My friend says that I can buy an additional sound card that has an SD slot. I am planning to buy a soundblaster, but what is the highest series for laptop that soundblaster has??

Here's a link to the SB Audigy2 ZS (PCMCIA Slot)
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=205&product=10769

As for pricing look around, sometimes even Dell sells them for a good price.

If you want alternatives, there are USB dongle sound cards.

Once again look around for pricing.

Other than that, sitck with the G1's onboard sound, test it out, and if you find that it is not enough for you, by all means get either the SB or Turtle Beach Solution.

Does anyone have an idea when Creative will be starting to make soundcards for Express slots?

I'm actually really disappointed in the sound - I listened with headphones for the first time yesterday and it was a little bit crackly and really clicky in the quiet sections when I was using the keyboard.

As for an external soundcard I use an m-audio audiophile firewire for my desktop and now plug it into my laptop too. It's good because I just leave that wired into my stereo and it has really awesome stereo sound (no surround at all though).

Yeah, the sound from the speakers of the G1 is pretty ****. I have to try using my Senn's IEM's to see if it's any diff......

I've never even used the speakers, I was talking about when I use it with headphones (Shure in ear or sennheiser HD600s). But it is listenable and if that's the biggest drawback on my purchase then it still shows me I made the right choice!

I would just buy a set of speakers that takes a digital input, and use the S/PDIF output on the laptop. That will give you nice, clean digital output, and should be cheaper then buying a sound card + speakers. Plus, all of your audio channels go over one cable if you want a 5.1 system or whatever.

You could look towards the external USB solutions like the Audigy 2 NX, I imagine they have good sound quality. I doubt there is much of a performance penalty either.

which one is better the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS or the USB one like the Audigy 2 NX?

I dont think that I am still going to use the sound card G1 has, because I am an audiophile lover and I need good quality of sound.

probably the ZS as it's internal, i thought for a second the G1 had PCExpress on it, but it has PCMCIA so you have all kinds of PCMCIA options you can put in there.

I see, so I should go with a ZS then?? I dont know why but the audigy NX is more expensive than the ZS. What speaker do you reccomend me?? I am looking for a 2.1 speaker

Yeah I'd say the ZS probably, the NX would be more expensive as it is an external solution so has to have power adaptors etc etc. the NX *might* sound a little better but I haven't had a chance to play with either really.

In terms of speakers I personally use Klipsch Promedia 4.1's they sound good just wish I had the option of digital input so I could get 4.1 from my laptop ( I'm just using the internal sound so only have the options of 2ch or 7.1 digital )

One of the guys I work with here has the Logitech 5.1 THX certified system it sounds pretty good and I believe that it has a digital input, if you get a system with a digital input there is almost no reason to purchase the additional sound card as the sound quality will be determined by the circuitry in the speaker system itself vs the soundcard ( at least that is how i understand it ). Using a digital connection to your speakers the only advantage I could think of to using the new card would be for EAX performance during games etc.
