I have changed a HDD to an SDD on my ASUS Eee PC 1225b laptop. The problem is that I can't connect and attach the laptop's keyboard cable in a good way back on the motherboard! It seems like the keyboard cable lock mechanism on the motherboard isn't working...

I have attached some photos which can be viewed at this address: http://imgur.com/a/W2hRS

As you can see on the pictures, I still have that little important part that is supposed to attach the cable, but I have no idea how to plug this little part back on place on the motherboard!

Someone knows how to fix this? Any suggestions?

I would be very happy if someone could show pictures of how the keyboard cable looks like when it is attached to the motherboard (without anything being broken)! Then I could maybe get a clue on how to plug that part back.

    Thanks!

I don't think that piece is meant to detach. It might be broken...

That piece works in one of two ways:
    1. It sits below the cable and slides in to secure the cable
    - or -
    2. It sits above the cable and flips at a 90 degree angle, clamping down onto the cable.

I'm not sure which design yours is, but it looks like the 1st type I listed. You MIGHT be able to reaffix it, but if any of the plastic is broken, there may be no easy fix.

Thanks for the reply! Well, it might be the 1st type as you said.

I found a do-it-yourself guide that shows how you can fix the connection problem when your laptop's ZIF connector is broken. And this seems to be just my problem - the ZIF connector to the keyboard is most probably broken.

    http://realit1.blogspot.se/2013/10/how-i-fixed-my-compaq-hp-keyboard-zif.html

Anyways, I followed the guide and used some tape to make the cable attach, and for the moment it is actually working! But it would be nice to get a new ZIF connector to the laptop some time in the future.

Does anybody know where you can buy ZIF connectors to this ASUS laptop? :)

Sorry! I meant to say it looked like the 2nd design I listed. But that's great that you were able to get it working!

You can try purchasing the part from Asus directly, or perhaps through eBay. It's a difficult piece to find and purchase by itself, though. Good luck to you!
