It has the Asus logo on it. Mine doesn't say portableone on it anywhere.

So basically, its A8jm, but since they have the option of customization of part, they call it a MX?

I'm not really sure why the call it an MX. But it does have customization options and has the Asus logo all over it. I'm sure some others around here know better than me.

I've read something about the MX being a built on asus rather than an ensemble like the regular A8JM.

i believe that they have pulled a8jm from the u.s. market so that it doesn't compete with the w3j. i think it will only be available from portableone b/c they make a special order for it.

ejl is on the dot. The A8jm will not be released into the US market. PortableOne imports it from Canada, thus the higher price for the base model.

They basically make the A8jm into a built on, they buy A8jm's and rename it as the MX, and once they modify it, the ASUS warranty is void, and they put their own warranty into place.

i think the best term to describe it is "built on ensemble" :D which is why all the upgrades to it are usually "higher" than the default options in the canadian ensemble

So if I get an MX (A8jm) from portableone, there Asus warranty is void?

The Asus warranty is void, yes, but Portableone puts their own warranty on it. So you still have a warranty.

Why does the US ASUS site show A8JM?
