I've just recently bought an A8Js and it came bundled with Vista home basic, I didn't really like it although it came with a recovery disk. Everything works fine though.. all hotkey works, status indicator and so forth. Anyways so.. I reformated my hd and got XP SP2 installed (latest version), I went to Asus' site and downloaded almost every XP drivers (latest) needed for everything and every component but I have yet to solve the 'status indicators' lights not showing up when pressed.. this excludes the HD, power, and caps status indicators that works fine. The ones that don't work are the Powered 4 Gear, Bluetooth, Wireless Lan, Splendid, and Instant Fun status indicators even I had apps and drivers installed for them. Some of those 'hotkeys' don't work either.. and now the Fn key when i tried to adjust my volume don't work anymore.

Can somebody please help me with this issue?.. what drivers or apps am I missing.. It would be great if you A8Js (or similar) users tell me which drivers to install to get these hotkeys and status indicators working again on windows XP. Do I need to flash update the bios? (I really dun wanna do this coz i dunno how).

    Regards.

Hi DeathScythe seems I get to welcome a second newcomer today ;). Welcome to the NBR forums!

You need to install the ATK driver and utility for the status leds and to have control over them with the function keys.

If you did not, try installing them. Otherwise try reinstalling them :) and if that doesn't work either, post back.

Hi E.B.E. thanks for the welcome!! I've downloaded the following drivers

    ATK_XP_060512
ATK_Media_XP_060825 (closing lid = standby, power button = shutdown etc. works fine)

The Fn keys work fine now and also some of the function keys but still the LED lights won't light up when pressed. These other function keys that don't work are the Powered 4 Gear, Splendid (nothing comes up when pressed even though I have them installed). The Instant Fun key were able to light up but then it would not turn off when pressed again
:( sorry for being such a newb but the drivers that are available for download are so overwhelming, I don't know what they do or fix.. like the Hotfix utility there seems to be like 4-5 of them for XP.. any help of clearence would much be appreciated. thanx.
