    Hello,
I hesitate between two notebooks :
    A6Ja-Q079H at 1235€ or A8Jm-H016H wich cost 1300€

    The a6Ja specs are :
    Core Duo T2300E
    Radeon mobility X1600 (256 to 512Mo HM)
    2 Go RAM
    HDD 100 Go
    15.4" WXGA screen

    The a8Jm specs are :
    Core Duo T2400
Geforce Go 7600 (512Mo dedicated memory)
    1 Go RAM
    HDD 120 Go
    14" WXGA screen
    1 Express Card slot

the other specs are almost identical.

My two most demanding use of this notebook will be game and pro music (wich mean a very-high demand in ram, and high demand in CPU).
I want also be able to carry it regulary (to my school where I can access to internet).

What are you recommanding me ?

Here's the dimensions of both laptops:

    ASUS A8jm
    13.3" x 9.7" x 1.38"/1.48"
    5.37lbs (2.44kg)
    14" WXGA (1280x800) Glossy

    ASUS A6Ja
    13.9" x 11.2" x 1.4"
    6.27lbs (2.85kg)
    15.4" WXGA (1280x800) Glossy

From these dimensions you can see that the a8jm would be easier fro you to carry around.

Also the a8jm will give you more battery life, and the cpu is better on the a8jm.

However if you like a bigger screen, for use at home, then you can purchase an LCD, and the a8jm has a DVI port in which you can connect the LCD with.

I guess you answered to yourself already. :)

Everything speaks in favor of A8Jm. Just put in extra 1 gig of RAM and you're ready for everything ! :D

    I hope it's 1*1GB inside and not 2* 512 MB
Because 2GB is something I would appreciate but if I have to add the price of 2*1GB ...

the T2300'E' does nt have Intel virtulization.

I'd go with the latter myself... 14" is the perfect size IMHO..

Hey guys, just joined today, so here's my two cents. Have you considered the A8Js? That's got C2D and a geforce go7700 GPU. Battery life is around 2.5hrs though :-( Still, 14" like the A8Jm. BTW, I read your review on the A8Jm. It answered all my questions, nice job! The A8Js is out though , so now I've got more decisions to make. damnit!

The A8Js isn't out anywhere as yet, although some vendors may already have it listed on a pre-order basis.

Based on an nVidia press release for the go7700, Asus has suggested a September launch in "selected Asian and European markets." I'm trying to confirm an Australian release date through the local distrbutor.

A8Js is out in Asia for quite a bit already. The price is more expansive than A8JM as expected for about 250 bucks here in China.
