    iam planning on buying a asus A6JA :duo 1.66 Ghz /100GB/1GB ram /x1600 256 .

what do you guys think of this laptop ?is it oke to game on .mostly oblivion .

can somebody who has this laptop give me some numbers on batterylife (officework and gaming )and 3dmarks.cause the only numbers i can find are from the original setup ,and i guess the numbers ( specialy 3dmark) will be different after a format and reinstall .

and a screenshot of oblivion on the best possible settings on this machine would be nice aswel.

are there any global problems with this computer .heard things about overheating.

have seen the laptop for 1100 € on ebay .think it is a good price
are there any other good laptops with the same specs.from asus or other brand mayby ,but i think asus is good with build quality and i need it for school so that is quite important.

    thx in advance

I believe the A6JA battery life is short, bout 1hour30min.. maybe could be a little bit more. Overall is a pretty good gamin machine.

Yup Oblivion runs fine on my A6J (1.83GHz). Highest settings would make it slightly laggy, so I normally run on default settings with just some lowering of object distances. I could not take a screeny tho the printscreen button doesn't work in the game.

If you haven't seen my review for the A6J yet click here

I'm on original setup tho so can't give u the figures you're looking for. As for heat, it certainly is a hot laptop but I wouldn't call it overheating :D
Depends on your personal threshold really.

No doubt about build quality, it's good quality.

All in all, it's a good lappy at a great price, but for those willing to pay more I think there'd be others which are less hot, less bulky but just as powerful. Not being Gates' son, I love the A6J.

@duepeace:if you chance bAllowScreenShot=0 to 1 you can make screenshots
but you have to change both of the ini files ,the 1 in your game dir and in My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/oblivion.ini

    thx for your respond
    goodluck with the screen shots

Keep in mind that Oblivion is one of the most demanding graphics games out there right now, and has a tendency to bring even high end (7900gt, x1900) desktop single cards to their knees during active sequences on highest settings; SLI setups even have difficulty handling this game. The x1600 is a great mid-range notebook graphics card, but will never handle Obl with high framerates on high settings across the board. That said, it generally should handle this one. You could try posting in the W3J Owners Lounge thread for some other input - I'm sure some of those guys have experience with Obl on the x1600 and could comment further.

a6ja has some negatives that should be kept in mind before buying, the most obvious i found is that it gets hot at bottom and top. The glare screen is something that you will have to get used to

im very satisfied with my A6Ja. build quality is excellent. although it becomes hot at the bottom, it never froze up or hanged whenever i use it. i had a previous problem with the wireless connection, but after a bios update the problem was solved. the LCD glare doesnt bother me, i just adjust the angle of the LCD to reduce the glare. ive only installed Need4Speed in it, the game runs perfectly. im gonna run 3DMark on it this week, see what numbers i get. battery life is less than 3hrs on average (wish it can be longer).

What does everyone think of the screen? Ive seen it and i think it looks quite washed out. Although the model i saw was the A6Jc all the screens should be the same. I compared it to a Toshiba, Sony and Fujitsu and it had the dullest and most faded screen. Altough those are the best screens around, the Asus simply does not compare in terms of brightness or contrast.

As i will be using the screen for everything i decided not the get the Asus and am looking at sony instead. Its a real shame because i had my heart set on the A6Jc. I didnt realise the screen was so bad until i saw it in person.

    You're welcome :)

I'm happy with the screen but I did not have a chance to compare it with other brands side by side, so I can't comment on that part. But looking at the display, "dull" certainly doesn't come to mind, not at all.

    asenna here are some answers:

    1) as fari know, there isn't any option for extra battery in the ODD,i had asked the same thing before buy it, no-one answered it and since Asus doesn't provide similar information, my answer would be no

    2) what you mean exactly same specs? similar CPU/GPU?

    3) Well...i try to ask many things abotu A6Ja, but most people like W3J or V6J, both are "sexier"

    4) not so sure, probably early this year
