I like the machine a lot. But this is a big disappointment. Despite what ASUS claims (that the 1000HE supports SD/SDHC/MS/MS-Pro), the 1000HE does not support Sony's Memory Stick, at least for the unit that I bought from Amazon. I recently tried it out with my own MS card. I could not even insert it into the slot.

I had an ASUS W5F that I bought a few years back. It supports MS cards with no problem. I always thought that the 4-1 card reader was supposed to be a standard feature in the 1000HE.

Has any 1000HE owner tested it out and encountered the same problem?

That sounds more like your netbook needs an RMA instead of the model not supporting the memory stick.

I just checked with my 1000HE, and you're right. A Sony Memory Stick will not fit in the slot.

May I suggest a small USB reader? :) Assuming there are such things for the Sony MS standard (I see no reason for which there shouldn't be)
