I don't know much about these things, but all new ASUS computers including the G50 have SPDIF digital audio output. You may be able to connect those headphones digitally, in which case you don't need the 4-port analog jacks. But check that this is indeed the case before you buy!

i dont know if i would take the chance with those.. Just to be safe I would get a pair of USB 5.1 Surround Sound Headphones. Ive never had a pair of headphones with a USB interface, so i cant comment on how any of them would sound lol. I stick with my old Icemat Siberia headphones

Check out razer, They have some neat 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 headphones. Look at their specs to see the input device they use.

as a once more seriouse player i can tell you that simple high clarity 2 channel audio is what you should be looking at.

Personal preference and suspishion/strange sensabilties aside.. you wont loose any audio in a non vertual 2can set up.. unless you have a pre 2005 onboard sound chip. My advice would be to spend more money on a external sound card or auto tune preamp than any headphone set that clames to display more than a muddied 2chan audio.

But yer you'r ears not mine. MABYE i dont have 5.1 ears.. who knows. Alot of this stuff is actualy game depended.. if its source based i def dont see any one i know in high teir cs bragging about 5.1 cans. I dont play much Fmod driven games beacuse i personaly hate the mix that it puts out in crysis/bioshock/modern warfare2... its really just made for abusing the 3rd core on 360s and has no place on pcs beside quick ports if u ask me.

i sware by steelseries products they are more popular now but alot of people dont know them still.. def filling the gap of what a logitek & sanhiser where doing in the early 2000's.

PS.(the highest spec products that razor stock are LED lights)

but yer what games are you playing and how compeditive are you.."P i can prob help you more if i know that.

couldnt agree more.. I owned one pair of 5.1's (Turtle Beach) and I think my Icemats or Sennheisers were better, but I was trying to steer clear of trying to sway him away from his original question.
+1 for suggestion of getting 2 channel headphones

and keep in mind, the best headphones will not come with a mic :)
"headsets" always tend to be cheaper and lower quality than an all around good pair of headphones. I recommend looking at some Sennheiser headphones.

try the ax triton pro 5.1...alot of cables but they are god compared to icemats or even 5.H steel series. The pc350 sennheisers will come close to it though.

I'm using Sennheiser PC350's now...probably as good as you are going to get. Most 3d games do their own 3d-mix for headphone and will do positional sound.
