    1. I was wondering if it is normal for the fan to run when the system is on but the top cover is closed (so pretty much the system is idling)

    2. How much battery life one can expect, I get around 2:30 -3 hours doing normal work (no CD/DVD action)

    Thanks
    Justin

The battery model is A42-m6 it came with the unit.
What do you mean by how I calibrated the first time I have charged it?

    Thanks
    Justin

    1. It's usually normal if you're in a warm room, or if you have the AC power plugged in.

    2. This varies depending on how you calibrated your battery the first time you charged it... or which battery you have

Li-ion Batteries are already calibrated when they come to you from the manufacturer. 2.5-3 hrs for light work on a m6n is a bit low. I have a m6bne and I get 4-5 hrs for stuff like browsing, word, and such. Make sure that your cpu downclocks to 600 MHz when under light load and on Battery. I, and many others, use speedswitchXP for downclocking the cpu - kind of like Power4Gear but works better. Also make sure that you have the latest BIOS from the asus website and you have chosen the AUTOMATIC mode for sppedStep in the Power optins in the BIOS.
