I think I am having a mad moment here and pretty sure I need to order another new cable :(

I have the UK version of the 1015PN which does not have ION it has a VGA output to TV screen. I bought a VGA to HDMI cable thinking I run it on the external 1440x1024 resolution it can output but it is not connecting.

I assume you cannot use a VGA-HDMI cable for this model>?

Is there anything I can do to get this to work? or is it a no go?

VGA to HDMI shouldn't work with an Eee, since it's an analog output going to a digital input on the TV. it's possible you could go VGA to DVI on the TV but not HDMI.

What is the difference between VGA-VGA and VGA-DVI before I order the new cable, does DVI comes with sound and VGA not?

Ok so I have no DVI in on this tv either.

I have a VGA in and a pc audio cable next to it.

So I need a VGA-VGA and a 3.5 audio cable to get it working? I only have a headphone socket is that what I use to transfer the audio?

I want to run movies off this what video sound can I expect? with a GMA 3150 is a high resolution possible?

Yeah, you would need a stereo 3.5mm audio cable from the headphone/line out jack and a VGA cable for video.

According to notebookcheck your 3150 will output up to 1400x1050.

The problem will be video playback at higher resolutions, it will struggle with higher bitrate 720p and 1080p will not really be a possibility.
