[Help] how to insert UUID , SN and LAN on notebook Asus ?

i have a laptop Asus X551CA recovered from a bricked bios with
dediprog Sf100 programmer on Winbond W25Q64FV.

the bios of notebook is Aptio Ami Bios

The notebook works very fine, but now, in Bios menu not appear Serial
Number and UUID and the mac adress of LAn Realtek are 0000000 with (!) in windows 8.1 .


Exist a solution?

On the mobo there are adesive with information code

Hello,

I used this tool on a *desktop board* to restore the values:
Tools to flash and recover BIOS on ASUS P8xxx boards (FD44Editor, FTK) - [H]ard|Forum

That being said, I could not flash the BIOS with the information added through normal methods, because the areas where those values are stored are write-protected by default and the FTK tool I tried to use to flash it back did not work (and instead bricked me again).

What I ended up doing was using the FD44Editor, tool and then re-flashing the BIOS chip itself with an external programmer and that worked.

Again, YMMV, and the tool I linked might not work at all for laptop BIOS' (and presumably you do not want a brick again)... but might at least point you in the right direction. Look for BIOS-oriented forums... they might be able to direct you to the correct tools and/or advice.

I'll explain everything in detail of what I did.

I have an Asus notebook X551CA - SX024D with whom I had a problem with flash BIOS.

Basically I took the 210 version from the Asus site ( 6mb ) and I flashed with FPT intel .


The BIOS chip is Winbond W25Q64FV model supports 8mb in total.

So having bought a Dediprog SF100 I did dump the bios chip and I compared
a full dump taken from the internet as a forum for repair Russian.

With the program HxD I have seen in the dump of my bios that offset 00200000 onwards there was writing all the bios 210 from the first line to the last line and that's why the computer would not start.

This is a normal dump of bios of this notebook, and in the 00200000 you see a begin of the normal rom bios downloaded form asus

So with HxD i have removed the lines transcribed wrong and with the Dediprog i have flashed on winbond with test clip .

Now in fact the computer starts and also works EZ Flash .

The ' only thing that appears is the data SN, UUID and MacAddres Lan .

let me show some things.
I renamed the dumps files for easier understanding
- wrong_flash_image_dump.bin = name of your X551CA's BIOS dump you realized
- russian_flash_image_dump.bin = name of the russian X551CA?'s BIOS SPI dump you used
- rebuild_flash_image.bin = name of the flash image (you used) for reprogramming the BIOS SPI chip of your X551CA

I read very carefully the pdf file for explanations and I realize that the issue is complex and things are done a certain criteria.

hi Philippe,

today i m work on laptop.

but the are a problem with the size of rom . because dediprog send error on log.




because the rom bios are usually 8192kb ( 8.388.608 in dos mode) but rom is 8194kb.


Yesterday morning I did the following.



I downloaded from the asus support (X551CA) , the bios utility Winflash

and I installed it, and from the command prompt I wrote winflash.exe /nodate so that I could do a downgrade a bios.



As always I downloaded Bios for my model a previous version

so that I could do with upgrading the bios to 210 http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/X551CA/X551CAAS210.zip, using EZFlash.



So to update successfull with EzFlash and I saw that the machine starts is all ok, but for now....there is not UUID, SN and Mac Address on main bios menu and no mac address on windows 8 lan property.

I disassembled the computer to access with dediprog and so I did dump the bios.

I saw that the total dump compared to the previousrom ( that i have used for start laptop ) one was a bit different in the first offsets list...










this for to see how EZFLASH distributes the capsule bios on winbond.




I found written around other people who are having difficulty in the question mac address. Mah
