sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
Mine seems kinda jinxed.. The person supposed to come has been advised against air travel for two months. And she already ordered it.... Sucks big time...
Where's your review, Gautam? -
Sess, I know how difficult the waiting part is.. 25th seems soo far away.. cant imagine how tough a 2 month wait would be
maybe its different. Its my first laptop while you already have one -
This looks like a really nice laptop, but I would prefer the Compal IFL90/Sager NP2090 because it looks better (imo, matte black is awesome), is customizable, has a more powerful GPU, and is similarly priced, if not cheaper. I would have this over the S96s though; the fact that they aren't renewing the WSXGA screen Z96 really kills me.
So which models did you guys get, and why? -
getting an A1. no prob with B1 but A1 is more than enough for my needs and is cheaper.
resolution wont be a prob as right now I am using 1024x768 -

Mine's a B1.... And I sold off my F3Jp, so am currently laptopless....
-
Whoever has one should post pics asap
-
The ATI X2500 in the F3Se-X1 isn't a DX10 card, right? I wonder, is it just the old X1600/1700? And why are they still using a DX9 card in there?
-
hopefully i can post in here as an owner soon, anyone know what to look for in a spare battery? thats the only thing right now keeping me from ordering right now (want to order it all together)

linux thread. Any information you interested in? -
can anyone give any comments on battery life?
-
I get around 2 and a half hours with wifi on in battery saving mode, and anywhere from an hour to around two hours depending on what I'm doing in high performance mode.
-
thats on a 6-cell battery right?
does anyone in here know how to pick a battery for the F3SV-X1? ive been searching around but i havent found any battery for that laptop...
i would also like my backup battery to be a 12-cell if possible, so if any of you have purchased a spare battery could you help me out as to what im looking for? will any battery do? im just totally lost here -
i just got my F3SV
got it just before I left for office so didnt try anything but it looks and feels solid. The screen is good enough.
will be adding 1GB RAM -
Some photos of my F3SV
-
i just bought a F3SV-A1 like 20 minutes ago, now i need to wait for it
-
Yep i got one too, looks pretty much the same as Andy15s Still waiting on the 2nd gig of ram, need to play some bf2.
-
please suggest a powerful game to try on this machine. I want to see how much it can handle
-
Look a lot similar to the F3JP except for the webcam on the top..
-
-
I like its look. Didn't think much about it from the photos I've seen but its quite impressive in real.
The design is simple but elegant. And it feels Rock Solid. Was slightly worried about its build quality - being a low end ASUS model.
what are the tests one should do with their laptop other than 3DMark? -
-
Actually was thinking of purchasing a game. The net speed here is such that its cheaper buying one than downloading
will test one by one. And FEAR seems popular. Can hire it from someone. -
F.E.A.R. runs on high settings at a good framerate, but can hardly run the dx10 version of Lost Planet. 2 gigs of ram is also a MUST have for this laptop, without it F.E.A.R. was very choppy, and didn't play very well at all. The ram made a huge difference.
-
is Oblivion IV good enough to test the system?
-
Vista Score
Guess I need more RAM. Getting 1GB -
Here is a thread for benchmarking, and it includes links for downloads, etc.

Picked mine up and love it to death....
Specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate
Intel C2D T7500 (2.20GHz)
Nvidia 8600M GS 256MB plus sharing 756MB
Kingston DDR2 800 PC2 6400 2 x 1GB
240GB HD "Brand Unknown"
Laptop runs everything on Ultra High if not High and pushes 3Ds Max 9.0 and AutoCAD perfectly fine light weight and sweet specs... will have a full review posted at http://www.icrontic.com in a few weeks... takes time to do power testing and road traveling. -
Thanks Sledgehammer70. I too will be working on 3D MAX and Maya in a few months. Good to know that the system handles them well.
-
you will be able to read my review both at http://www.nvrev.com and http://www.icrontic.com once it is live

Anyone's graphics card running kinda hot? Mine idles at about 74C.
-
Mine idles at about 70C OCed to 650/550. Running source, It heats up to 95C, how about anyone else? Without the OC, it gets up to 89C in Source.
Also, I Have my card OCed to 650mhz core, but the Rivatuner graph shows 700mhz. Anyone know anything about this?
The CPU is cool though, runs about 50C idle, about 70 while gaming. -
I am also curious about any heat issues.
Is it unuseable on the lap because of this? -
-
Does it eventually get uncomfortable?
-
Well i wouldn't play really play games with a laptop on my lap for an extended amount of time, just because of how uncomfortable the positioning is for me. I did play oblivion for a few hours, and it was fine (had AC on though).
-
I was playing Indiana Jones yesterday and after around 90 minutes, it started getting a bit uncomfortable. but not a lot. Since I use an optical mouse, I dont keep it on lap often
-
Anyone know if a higher capacity battery would be made for the f3sv? like a 9 cell perhaps
-
-
None so far
-
-
its definitely silent.. was pleasantly surprised
but i am not sure if it can be called cool.. was playing far cry and in 90 minutes it got quite warm. not unusable just a bit uncomfortable. is it because I was using AC instead of battery? -
-
I hope whats warm for me isn't warm enough for you.
Its not that bad. The thing is - I don't usually notice things while playing but the heat was a bit noticeable.
But then, this is my first laptop and probably this isn't warm enough. And as Gautam said, it might be 'cool' for a laptop. Even cellphones heat up. Guess its normal. -
Based on the highly positive review of the F3sv , I believe this machine fits my needs well. Battery life bothers me, I guess we all want the "perfect" machine, at least for 6 months anyway. Any idea if at some point in time Asus will have a 8 or 9 cell to fit this machine or is that just wishful thinking ?
-
please help me
i got 1GB Transcend RAM
when i inserted it, the system refused to start.
i removed it and its working. what might be the problem? -
I bought OCZ PC2-5400 DDR2 SODIMM / OCZ2MV6672G ( http://shop2.outpost.com/product/5284707) for my
F3Sv-A1 and it works perfect. I am loving the machine. -
how did you install in your f3sv?
