Hello everyone, I decided to create a thread for those of us who own the X205TA.

I'm currently a teacher in South Korea and will be moving to teach in China next year. I have been searching for a small laptop for email,Microsoft Office, and light editing. After months of searching, Asus finally released the X205TA in Korea. I payed 250 (everything is overpriced here) and have been pleasantly surprised.

I'm kind of surprised that no one has made a thread for the X205TA yet.

I have had no problems yet (smart gesture/sound) so my experience has been good so far. This is the perfect in between home and work laptop (granted it's a glorified tablet with a keyboard but still a decent teacher/student workhorse)

I bought the gold and it looks good.

    I am here.

I am enjoying this device so far. I purchased it after researching that it was able to stream 1080p video; however, mirroring it to chromecast in 1080p is choppy. It froze twice during sleep and was unable to wake. I read about the complaints about the trackpad and the gestures but have not experienced that on my unit.

I also tried pairing 2 different bluetooth mouse but both were very laggy.

It's not available in my country yet but within a month I'll own one too although it's called F205TA here. Is that the gold version you have or some kind of silver?

I just bought a laptop yesterday but can't seem to find a site that might explain the operation in depth. In other words some kind of a tutorial. I found a manual but it is not the model x205ta. Do you know of a site where i might get some help online? Thanks, Bill

So now I finally got this little underdog (living in sweden is not great for tech enthusiasts). I'm definitely impressed, especially by the screen. Despite being TN it is surprisingly vivid, and better viewing angles than expected, at least from the sides. And I would've expected a slower device. Not friends with the keyboard yet, long hands/fingers.

So what can I safely uninstall? I'm not going to use the web storage so I uninstalled that one, but can I uninstall everything Asus related (except asus live update which I reckon I should keep).

The save draft function on this forum is not friendly to this device though.

Mcafee is the first to go. It should address the issue of speed of the computer.

there's been some discussion in this thread. Personally I'm staying on 8.1 because of the forced windows updates. I would upgrade if they changed the policy. I have two other PC's with 10 Pro which makes it possible to disable automatic updates and it's a great OS, but the risk of getting lousy drivers forced installed makes running 10 home/bing not worth it.
