ICD7 is awesome.
It's a little trickier to apply because it's a little thicker but well worth it.
Man someone beat me too it..lol
-
Ok thanks..That's what I got with my sistem. I bought the g73jh at xoticpc.com, do they apply the paste or I have to???

Ok thanks a lot! -
So, if i went for the 2x 500GB HD's instead of 1 being a SSD. Then about a month or so after i got it I wanted to add a SSD, would that void the warrenty?
-
I'm guessing hard disks and ram are customer replaceable parts.
-
So let me get this straight.
No e-sata
No expressCard slot
2RAM slots instead of 4.
What else are they going to "reveal" before this thing gets out?
Oh woops, we meant 4370 card "our bad", oh you wanted the 2 HDDs IN the laptop?
So where did these BS specs come from in the first place? was there another G73JH that was supposed to be released, but ASUS realised they'd actually lose money on it? -
The only thing that changed from spec is the ram slots right?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i hope that the other ram slots are on the other side of the motherboard.
-
With no compartment to reach the CPU we're looking at a removal of the system board from the system to get to the CPU.

So Asus is basically lying and inflating the score of the G73JH -
They did when the W90 came out also. Remember Kinc?
Besides the "P" in Vantage stands for a specific res. -

P, H, E, the prefix to the score determins the resolution and other settings used for the test, so just make sure you compare them to another system using the same prefix on the score.
Performance is the normal test using the P prefix. Since this machine has an i7 the best thing to do if possible is only focus on the gpu score portion as we already know the i7 is the best cpu no need to look at the total score and let a good cpu bring up a bad gpu score (if thats the case) -

It's just that there is a thread for this type thing over in the general Asus area. This thread is for people who have pre-ordered or intend on buying it when it releases.

may i stay here?

Well, the P, coming before the score does NOT indicate a specific resolution, but rather "performance" settings.

This laptop for instance, is run at 1280 x 1024 during the benchmark, and gets a score of P5214. Now if you subtract the ~25 percent difference for G73JH's ~25 percent less pixel, etc calculations @ 1366 X 768, that would mean the G73JH only scores a 5445 @ 1280 x 1024, making it only very slightly more powerful than a 260m GTX. Remember, at the bottom of the picture of Asus's benchmark of the G73, they're comparing it with a laptop that has a 360m GTS, not a 260m GTX, which is better.
BUT, the 5870m will do MUCH better in terms of power usage and heat production, than 260m GTX. It will surely overclock better too. -
In case someone has not seen this. The quality itself is not that good, but you get the idea. DX11 is gona be frigign amazing!

+1, gj on finding the vid esso. I'm looking forward to direct x11 butcher games...perhaps assassins creed 3 would support it ^^

-
Yes, for both benchmarks. The whole thing is unreliable and we need to wait for a reseller to get this in their hands.
-
I'm waiting for games like Oblivion in DX11. it'll be incredible.
Aliens vs Predator and Alan Wake will be so good. can't wait. -
even if it wasn't, 06/vantage don't scale like that. 25% more or less pixels doesn't equal 25% more or less score. when going from 1280x1024 in 06 to 1280x768, I only got 600 more points, which I'm happy to say is nowhere near the exact 25% difference in pixels.
-
do you know if ken has one. looks like he has some pics of the innards.-
Edit - me wantee benchmarks -

Let's tone down the arguments please, I had to delete a few posts.

Hey, does this still have the HDMI output?
I figure for what I need this for I don't mind loosing the eSata or the Express Card since I already have more than enough Hard drive space (including 3 externals that add up to over 1tb) and I have never used the express card on my current laptop so I doubt I'll use one now.
However for HDMI output I figure if I get a new TV anytime in the next few years I can use the laptop to output to the TV so I can forgo a Blue ray player for a while longer. -
yes, this laptop does have an HDMI out port.
-
Probably old news, but I noticed yesterday GenTech has the option for the 5300 Wireless card. You can update your pre-orders if you want that, I sent them $32 yesterday for it
-
Probably going to update my pre-order tonight. did you send PM via notebookreview forums or email? -
Sorry if i'm not using correct lingo as i do not know how this all works. -
Yes, whatever game it is needs to support DX11 for it to work. The cards are backward compatible with DX9, DX10, DX10.1.
-
so let me get this right - so a game like oblivion written in ?2006? would not support dX11 right?
-
yes, a game must be coded in DX11 to support it, so no, Oblivion won't support DX11
-
The continued bickering over the performance of the 260m GTX versus 4870/5870 have derailed the thread, so those posts have been deleted.
If you want to discuss the peformance of those cards, do it in another thread(that conforms to the forum rules) or via private messages.
Also, I suggest that some of you guys use the ignore system via Usercp...it does come in handy. -
