I just received mine today. I was wondering what would you suggest I change in it from the default settings/software. What to add and what to delete? Is there anything that I could do to make the sound louder?

Have a look at my Vista optimization guide.

Don't forget a good antivir and perhaps a 3rd party firewall (although I believe the Vista firewall is adequate).

I'll be changing the title of the thread to M70V Series Owners' Lounge to clarify. Hope that's alright.

So, to make a sound louder, I pressed F2 during the system loading (the one before windows, almost as soon as you turn on the laptop) and there I searched around till I found volume settings. They were set for 4 and I changed them to 8. The bass is not nearly as good as I expected, but the volume did go up a little.

My media function (on the top right corner of the touchpad) stopped working. Can anyone suggest a fix? Thank you.

Does it light up when you double-click the top right corner?

Do you also hear the sound get muffled for a brief moment when the computer outputs audio randomly then the muffling disappears?

    Nope.

And about the touchpad, it doesn't light up when I double tap that "Mode" button. (It did work for about 4 days). Maybe I uninstalled the drivers for it. I dunno.

I can suggest topping up the RAM to 4GB as a first step, especially if you do a lot of multitasking.

Next would be a HDD if you are running out of space on the old one (depending also on how old the computer is, it may be difficult to find a significantly larger hard drive).

That's about as far as you can go without voiding warranty.
