    Hey everyone,

This is for all to discuss any comments/impressions/questions on the F3Jm. This is my comment:

I'M THE FIRST OWNER IN NORTH AMERICA!!! :D :D :D

and yeah, this laptop is sooo nice! i've waited for this one for quite a bit! actually, i originally wanted the a8jm, but then this went for the same price, and was bigger, and had bluetooth, and a better keyboard layout, chassis design (especially the air vents). i'm doing a discharge on the battery, and i'll play with it tomorrow.

and hopefully i'll get some undervolting too! :D

mike, i'll take some pics later today. i'll be focusing on the locations of the exhausts and keyboard Ctrl and Fn keys.

stamar, i somehow have a list of 4 monitors. 3 are default and the fourth is plug and play monitor. however, they show nothing of the model number that you linked to. HOWEVER, the resolution is 1280x800 native.

    yin

i'm still giddy from exhilaration. i gotta start customizing my laptop! :D

dang! that sucks about the bluetooth... oh well.

here are some pics of my F3Jm! sorry, i couldn't wait to tear all the wrapping off so i have no 'fresh out of the box' pics. the screen is glossy. so there will inevitably be glare, if you're not careful.

and i'm not a pro photographer... some pics don't do the laptop justice, heh...

Hmm, that's weird, you only get 12months warranty and no TPM?
F3Ja got 24month global warranty and TPM.

You beat me with the pictures, been too lazy to fix the raw images :) Got some unpacking images though so gonna fix them as soon as I fix the card reader.

All in all, an awesome laptop :D

so after a day's use, my internet explorer decided to stop working. my web access is fine. i can still use firefox and stuff, but i can't chat with msn anymore. and updating windows stuff is quite difficult now too. does anyone know of possible causes for this problem?

    yin

update: ok, as it turns out, the ie problem was caused by a bad firewall setting. fixed that now.

a new problem arises: sometimes, the hotkeys just don't work, showing errors. for example, if i push the browser button, nothing happens and an error box shows up on screen. it's fixed after restart, but i don't know what caused it in the first place. any ideas?

i've got a question about those buttons above the keyboard, next to the power button. from the right: power, browser, splendid, touchpad, power4gear, and one more, but i don't know what this does. it looks like a media button (a film strip with a music note in it), but it doesn't seem to do anything at all. any idea what it is/does? and how to enable it?

    thanks!

Help guys! My LAN disappeared! I don't know what I did, but I went to my friend's today to get a little LAN party going and when he plugged the cable in it didn't do anything. And then we checked the hardware devices and the LAN wasn't there. I can see the 1394 connection and also my Wireless connection, but there's no icon saying my 'network cable has been unplugged'.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I move to university tomorrow...

    Question about bluetooth: No bluetooth?

Every website lists Bluetooth 2.0+EDR in the specs. Do the owners not see a Bluetooth module in Windows? Why did that review that was posted say there was bluetooth?

Why does ASUS leave bluetooth out of NA laptops?? With cell phones and other devices using it it is very useful, and I used to hate bluetooth.

Man, I've been looking for a laptop like this for the longest. Finding a 15.4" with an Nvidia 7600 or ATI x1600 vid card was proving to be difficult and now with so many people complaining about the graininess associated with notebooks with the x1600, I've decided to stick with one equipped with the 7600. Anyone have any info on when the Core 2 Duo versions will be coming out?

Anyone with a F3JM?? Anyone? Do you have bluetooth?

i've got it. it doesn't have bluetooth... which is a downside, but i personally don't have anything bluetooth, so it's ok... or if you don't mind dongles, F3Jm is fine.

about the temperature, it runs cool enough, with undervolting i idle at around 40C and peak at mid-high 50s. graphics card goes perhaps into 70s. i regret that i don't have any monitoring logs....

    yin

and somehow my LAN decided to work again. hm. no more prolems with it though.

    Hi,
I plan on buying a new laptop very soon, and probably this F3JM, it has very interesting specs.
Yin, you bought it from milestonepc ? what battery did you get, I saw in the description a pack of battery (6-cell & 9-cell), did you get both of them ?
And what accessories did you get ? (mouse, bag...)

Also was the shipping good & fast ?

    Thank you,
    Jubei

Does anyone know when the F3JM will have Core 2 Duo? I don't want to wait for Santa Rosa to come out but I don't want a normal Core Duo proc. I've heard people say Q4...that means quarter 4 which starts in October? Thanks.

Kuo, when i got it, there were no accessories like mouse, carrying bag, etc. shipping time was pretty punctual. they said about 2 weeks, i got in around that time.

you only get 1 battery :D the battery is designed to have 51260 mWh, according to RightMark CPU Clock Utility. i don't know how many cells that translates into, because the battery is currently plugged into my laptop, and i'm currently using the laptop.

although, that was like a month-ish ago. i don't know if they've changed any deals or stuff, so call or email or pm them for more information! :)
