    Hey guys,

I'm buying this laptop and noticed the Canadian version only comes with a Ryzen 7 5800H versus the Ryzen 9 5900HX in states. Is performance going to be worth to import it?

Also does anyone know if they eventually release a 3080 version with the 300hz screen as I can't find it listed anywhere

    Peace

I've not seen the 300hz with 3080 but it's the second time i'm reading about it in a comment.....

I believe price difference is more important than import or not. I'm swaying towards the 3080 4k since I don't game that much and 120fps is still pretty good. Although I'm wondering if th 3080 16gb might be overkill..... Jan 26th we'll be getting a lot of our questions answered once reviews start popping up.

Yeah that other comment is probably me. I was gonna pull the trigger on last years model and you can see they have it with that config (300hz 2080) now (they didnt on launch). I'd be using it mainly for gaming.
But I don't want to wait if its not coming out. Seemed like it though from their presentation.

I guess for 4k 120 you would need 308016gb for gaming?

I wish they had more flexibility. Right now, gentech has the 3080 4k model only. On asus' website they also have the 3060 model but that might come out in summer.
If they had the 1080 300hz 3080 that would be great! My theory is due to pcie3 limitations, the 3080 won't make much of a difference. It will only make a difference for higher textures and low resolution, but not super high fps rates.

We'll see.... My main game is COD warzone and that one is notorious having low fps compared to others.

Yeah I believe last years model also launched with the same configurations and a little bit later there were more configurations available.

The 3060 was available for preorder on BestBuy (Canada) last week. It sold out but unfortunately we only get a ryzen 7 version on both the 3060 and 3070 (haven't seen the 3080 here yet).

My issue with getting the 4k one is I'd either be lowering settings or resolution when playing competitive games and I don't really want to do that. I'm not sure if the 3080 can run games 120hz 4k reliably or not. Guess reviews will tell. I was just hoping I can get it soon before I travel

Reviews have been positive so far but its a 115W TDP RTX 3080 (boost to 130W) so it won't perform as well as an MSI Raider or any 140W+ tdp 3070/3080 device. I pre-ordered the 4k RTX 3080 version too but am in 2 minds about possibly cancelling it. The soldered RAM really bugs me on such a high end device and the RTX 3070/1080p version is £1k less. The premium for that content creator 4k panel and 8GB more vram on the GPU seems massive.

And the delays on it :/

asus is dropping the ball. They should’ve announced different dates for different territories. They clearly can’t meet the expectations they set.

I went with the 3070. I figured even though the 3080 could probably run the 4k 120hz, I mostly play competitive multiplayer so I'll want that to be as consistent as possible.

Ordered on BH and its been on backorder since Jan 26th. I had another order with Amazon but unfortunately they cancelled it for some reason.
