is it strange for the laptop to be at 0.78 Ghz when plugged in but when i use it on battery the cpu reaches like 2.7-3.0 ghz on just normal browsing and word?

If you aren't allowed to install them, uninstall current graphics drivers for the intel card first - use this program http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Guys, is this the new zenbook pro with skylake ? -

I was just wondering if the Skylake model has a new display without the mustard yellow.

I'm seriously going to break this ****computer into piece. Could anyone test please if they also have ridiculous tiny GUI in Adobe Flash when using Firefox? Adobe have released updates and everything "fixing high-DPI problems" but this one never gets fixed it seems. Skype for Windows also released and updated and it looks beautiful. Problem is that Adobe Flash is extremely tiny. I have asked before and I attach images to show you how it looks. Would be nice if anyone could just install Firefox to see if they have the same problem. This is the 4K version. Thank you

Try looking through the Asus software, sometimes there can be additional software at work.

Hi,
Whenever the laptop display shuts off and I come back to it, the monitor flickers (think like refresh rate problem). This is especially noticeable on white backgrounds. Any help would be appreciated! I have already tried reinstalling nvidia graphics drivers and intel graphics drivers. -

What happens if you try changing the resolution when it does it?

Hi. I'm thinking of buying this laptop. I know some other ZenBook models had a lot of problems with loose hinges - does this one have similar problems?
Another question - does it become hot and/or are the fans loud? -
Someone with the new skylake refresh, does the Zenbook UX501 still utilize samsung's pentile 4k screen?
Can someone run Hwinfo64 and tell me the panel info? -

Hello,
When I have a black screen (begining of a movie for example), I have a little yellow spot on the left corner of my screen. It's an effect of the brighness (when I put the brightness to the minimum I seen nothing).
Do you also have that ?
I attach a picture but it is difficult to see it correctly.
Thanks

It's the touch screen 4k.

It's light bleed from slight pressure of the bezel of the display, IPS panels are sensitive to it.

Can I hope a replacement by Asus or they will tell me that's normal ? It's a little bit annoying when I watch a good quality movie. And I bought this notebook to have a great screen.

Has anybody been able to utilize Thunderbolt 2 and External graphics solution with this laptop?
If yes, which and how was the experience? -
No one has the new UX501 and can share screen panel info?

I am trying to get rid of my XPS 15 (return) and need other options. -

If this notebook has thunderbolt, it's thunderbolt 2. External graphics solutions for macbooks have been available for some time now. look them up on youtube. The graphics with those work excellent. They are all connected via thunderbolt 2. There are also DIY solutions available. -

Hi folks
I've just returned my second(!) new HP Envy (due to quality and support issues), and after lots of research have decided to go for the UX501 instead. It's significantly more expensive, but looks like it's worth the investment. I'd appreciate it if you could help confirm my understanding on a number of points, based on what I've read on this forum:
- Am I right in saying that the models are currently being refreshed - most significantly by bumping the CPUs to Skylake ones? (I am UK-based, and it looks like the versions over here are still the UX501JW models with the i7-4720HQ Haswell)
- Based on the Haswell version, it looks like Asus marketed a fairly different configuration in the US compared to Europe. Broadly speaking the US got a 4k touch screen, a larger SSD (512GB) and larger 6-cell 95Wh battery but at the expense of the HDD - whilst Europe got a 1TB HDD but a smaller 256GB SDD, a smaller 4-cell battery, along with a non-touch screen (in FHD or 4k).
Is that right, broadly speaking? - Have the European/UK specs for the Skylake refresh been announced yet? (I really like the idea of the HDD in addition to an SSD, and don't mind about a smaller battery)
-
1 model is ux501vw with 6700HQ
2 my config= 512gb ssd, 4k touch panel, no hdd, thunderbolt 3 (usb-c 3.1), 8GB ram
3 i went for bigger battery because 512gb is enough for me, i use an external hdd for long term storage anyway -

I'm in The Netherlands. We still don't have the UX501VW in shops. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay excluding shipping for your UX501VW? -
