That's nice :) Does it use the terribly slow 3200cl22-modules? There are cheap 3200cl18-sticks available, and even some premium 3200cl16-sticks so I hope they don't gimp the new ryzen using the cl22 ones.

Yup CL22. I can’t imagine lower CL really wakes this processor in a way that you’re a fool if you don’t upgrade”.

Can you leak [...hint, infer, generalize] the CPU temps situation a bit early?

Actually, that can possibly happend. Especially gaming on ryzen is very ram-dependant. G.skill has some B-die based ram running at 3200cl18-18-18 and 3200cl16-16-16. The latter would probably make very impressive gains, but it's a bit expensive. The 3200cl18 is not much more expensive than the Crucial 3200cl22-crap. The best would be a unlocked bios where you can tweak timings and OC the ram, Clevo and a few others allow that. Some timings matter a lot for gaming like the tRFC. On my desktop ryzen 3600 I overclocked my 3000cl15 micron E-die to 3733cl16 and lowered several subtimings, performance in games at low/medium settings improved by up to 30% on min fps and 20% on avg in some games.

https://www.techspot.com/review/1891-ryzen-memory-performance-scaling/ in non-gpu-bound scenarios just going from 3000cl16 to 14 can improve avg fps by over 15% on min and up to 10% on avg like WWZ.

Would you generally notice it? Probably not, but when faster GPUs becomes available for motebooks and for those playing at lower settings for more fps it can be substantial. For a 120/144Hz notebook for those who play FPS-games I would myself buy a 3200cl18-kit, lower the settings to high/medium and enjoy the gains :)

If you get the chance Bobofalltrades it would be awesome if you could test it with cl18 or 16-sticks :)

While most others received the smaller 14incher for evaluation,
TechEpiphany received the biggie 15incher with 4800HS for gaming performance tests...

If I were to buy this laptop how would I go about to replace the screen? Meaning:
    1) given the existing frame and bezels does it looks reasonable to do it? I do remember Asus laptop panel repair videos where people complained that putting the bezels back on was "impossible"
    2) are all 15.6 panels compatible or do they have to be some particular type?
    3) which panel would you recommend? I'm thinking 1080p 95% sRGB 120+Hz

FWIW I'm in the UK. If there is any shop that does this, please let me know too.

    Thanks

That was disheartening to hear :(
Also saw your G15 videos and bummer times two
What could have been unrivaled winners just end up being good laptops. And I'm sure there will be plenty of other good laptops coming out.
But where is that "amazing buy"? Great specs, low noise, good screen, and decent price.

I guess I'll be waiting a bit more. sigh

Just a suggestion for your channel: next time also consider posting amazon links to the UK. That's a potential +20% click increase.

Yes... We've to wait. Most likely till the middle of May or end of May or even into June.

Out of the laptop brands from Asia,
Between MSI and Gigabyte, only MSI chosen and had already release Ryzen based gaming laptops for reviews. Those review units that had sent out are still to be finalize on production specs.
Between Acer and Asus, only Asus had so far made pre-production models for sent off reviewing. Acer had yet to push out their Nitro or Predator systems for social reviewer assessments.
From Mainland China, leaks of Lenovo Legion had been shared around. And today thru online chat with CSO, I was informed that the finalized new generation Legion with Ryzen CPUs are scheduled coming in Singapore @ roughly end of May or mid-June as production stabilize. However to date, there isn't any further infos on whether will there be ALL AMD(Ryzen+ATI Radeon) lappies in Lenovo's range of new products.

Both Razer and AfterShock(Eluktroniks elsewhere?) do not hv plans on Ryzen based gaming laptops.

Getting this TUF 506 /w 4800H + 1660ti + 90watt battery on Monday.. I'll post up a full review and thoughts, possibly a new owners thread for it if I think it's worthy of it.. Despite all the initial major disappointments about the LCD panel. It's $999 (with no tax) from Amazon at least for me (in Florida) being shipped directly from @XoticPC. Plan to liquid metal it after doing all my baselines, thoughts, undervolting, etc.. Before and afters and exploring opportunities to replace the default LCD panel with a better one. The goal is to attempt to make it the lowest cost "gaming" machine out there with the cheapest mods to make it even better. I figure one day you'll be able to score it for $799 possibly in 6 mo time as well. My initial recommendation is to WAIT.. $999 is still a lot for what you get IMO, but the biggest gain about the laptop is the low cost combined with the 4800H which just simply crushes the Intel mobile-8core offerings.

Correctional update on AfterShock(Clevo/XMG) 15days later:-
Ryzen system gaming laptop is now available in some countries in Asia-Pacific region.
However do take note, the system board is BS450 that takes desktop CPUs and future proof to accomodate 4000 series CPU.

Went for the TUF706 from xotic pc for $1099. I am hoping for better thermals in the larger chassis. Suitable for my database work and some light gaming. Can't beat the price vs. value ratio.
