    Hello,

I had the "pleasure" with 2 devices here in Austria.

The first device was in Moonlight-White with 2x8GB Ram, 5900HS and RTX3080.

This device was actually even better than number two, but still had some huge problems with Asus' quality assurance.
The positive things were the low temperatures of the CPU and GPU with a maximum of 80/70 degrees celsius in turbo mode even under full load.
The negative was the rather strong backlight bleeding, distributed in many spots over the upper edge of the display.
When the maintenance cover on the downside was removed, everything inside was neatly processed, but a clean reassembly was no longer possible.
As soon as the three screws, which are located under the rubber caps, were tightened even minimally, the keys on the keyboard above this screws began to get crooked!
The keyboard was pulled towards the base plate at exactly those points.
These 3 screws do not go directly into the case, as initially thought, but are screwed into the downside of the keyboard, which is too soft and gives way.
For me, this deficiency was the main reason for the return, I might still have lived with the bleeding or I would have come to terms with it.

I then bought the same device again, but with 2x16GB RAM.

This second device was a complete disaster!
Under full load, the temperatures in turbo mode reached around 15 degrees celcius higher for both the CPU and the GPU. The CPU throttled to around 3Ghz at full load,
the first device here held 4Ghz at lower temperatures!
The thermal paste or the Conductonaut was apparently not applied cleanly or the heatsink was not sitting completely flat on the Chips. I didn't control it any further.
In addition, I had the problem with this device that when the CPU was under full load, the computer was put into standby mode every 10 minutes (according to the event viewer in Windows 10).
However, the computer had to be completely restarted afterwards in order to start up again. Probably some hardware component was broken out of the box or the system was getting to hot.
The backlight bleeding was a little less pronounced on this device, but it was still noticeable.
This device also had the problem with the keyboard. After opening it once, the base plate could not be reattached without pulling the keyboard towards the bottom plate with the same result as laptop number one.

In short: both devices were unusable.

In addition, both devices had additional problems with the case and the display lid. If one follows the edges with the eye, it is easy to notice that both housings of the body and the display are not straight.
The edges are partially curved or wavy. You can correct the display lid yourself without any problems, but the body unit definitely cannot be band in any ways.
In addition, some keys on the keyboard of both devices (apart from the screw problem) were made a bit slanted from the factory.
The said 3 screws of the base plate were relatively difficult to remove when opening for the first time. Presumably these were fixed with a screw lock.
That would explain why the keyboard was not warped in the delivery state and why the screws were still tight. Longer spacers on the base plate would completely eliminate the problem with the keyboard in both of my cases.
Either it's a series problem or I've had bad luck with both devices.

All of these shortcomings are avoidable. Well, the BLB is still ok to a certain extent due to the panel, but the other shortcomings are simply unacceptable for a device in this price range.
The problem with heat sinks not lying flat or incorrectly applied heat transfer media runs through the entire list of manufacturers. In my experience, one of two/three devices suffer from that Problem and needs a repaste.
Apparently, it seems that a sufficient quality control is no longer necessary these days or it has to be carried out to the buyer.

I already had 4 devices this year (2x G15, 1x MSI GE76 and 1x Scar 733) and all 4 had quality problems that were unacceptable to me. However, when I last bought a notebook in 2019,
I noticed that the quality assurance is getting worse and worse and you have to test several devices until you get a device that is reasonably flawless.

This year, the scarcity of hardware will make it even more difficult to find a usable device.
Again to the G15: Take a closer look at the devices and test the hardware carefully under load and check the damn Keyboard!

This laptop could be so good but I won´t try another one.
Maybe I´ll wait for the Lenovo Legion 7 in June.

    Best regards,

    Silvette

I'm new to this forum, always read on it and just switched from MSI to ASUS so I ended up over here.
I bought a white GA503QS (5900HS/32GB/3080) which I am very happy with - build quality seems to be better than my previous MSI (P65).
Anyway, I swapped out my SSD w/o making a backup and installed a clean W10, and now my Armoury Crate is missing some options (CPU/GPU clocking) and the power profiles don't behave as they used to.
Can someone share/upload their eSupport folder, apparently there are some crucial files in there which are not downloadable from the ASUS website... I did raise a support ticket, but from what I've read I should not expect anything from that.
More specifically, I am looking for a file which is called something like ACConfig_GA503QS*.zip. But that might not be the only missing file, hence my request for the full eSupport folder, but that might be a bit big.

    Great, thanks man!
I will look at this tomorrow - I actually solved it myself earlier today by taking the config files from G533QS (posted on the ROG forums) and changing some of them - got back the slides/toggles and power profile behaviour. But since it's a slightly different CPU and GPU (TGP) I trust these originals more, so much appreciated!

I also reached out to Asus support, their response was that installing the system control interface V2 via myasus would be sufficient.. what a wankers.
I'll see if I can convince them to put this online (including potential updates) as that's required by EU law.

Need some help folks. I’m currently running an early 2019 Razer Blade 15 with i7 8750 and 2080 MaxQ (non-super). I’m looking at the 3070 G15 from Best Buy. Reviews seem good but I’m wondering if it would actually be an upgrade. Would I at least be able to play at 1440p with the same frame rates as my Blade gets on 1080p?

When overclocked, yes. But there are better performing laptops which have mux switches (enables switching to dgpu only mode) which the new Zephyrus laptops lack. I recommended the Legion 5 Pro because it has both a ryzen cpu, a mux switch and max-p gpus instead of max-q gpus.

You should check the benchmarks, but I don't think this would be an upgrade, GPU/FPS wise.
G15 Zephyrus is somewhat limited (80/100W TGP), you should fine a less restricted unit for this to be an upgrade.
    I went from a i7 8750H / 1070 Max-Q to i7 5900HS / 3080 which definitely is an upgrade. This AMD processor is a beast, compared to the i7, and the 3080 performs way better than my 1070 - both 80W (3080 with a boost to 100).

Thanks for the response. It seems that Time Spy on the G15 is about 2000 points higher than my Blade. Not sure how that translates into real world FPS though.

My Best Buy G15 3070 does not have that option in Nvidia control panel but strangely System Info shows it as enabled.

Anybody have this weird issue where g15 3070 reboots instead if shutting down when selecting shut down?? Lol. It's random and when it happens I have to turn off via power button.

Hello everyone, I have the Asus Zephyrus G15 with AMD 5800H and RTX 3080.

Yesterday I repasted my GPU with LM and added an additional SSD. I was shocked how bad the Liquid Metal was applied to the CPU. Unfortunately the barrier which should hold back the LM on the CPU was not "set" correctly. I modified this a bit an now everything should be fine. Dropped my CPU temps about 4°C. On GPU (the thermal paste was a desaster...) temps were dropped by about 6°C with LM. Overall the buid quallity is great and the screen is beatiful. Only some very minor backlight bleeding on the top of the bezel (only visible with max brightness and in a dark environment on black background).

Do you have some additional hints how to further improve performance on the G15? In Turbo mode my GPU runs at about 95W. Currently I switch between performance mode and balanced mode. Does someone use manual mode? In summary the 3080 (max-q 80-100W) runs like the 3070 Max-P (140W) in the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. Someone would say go for the Legion but the design and weight of the G15 ist just great (very great for portability).

so disheartened by asus laptops, the gotta be my 5th laptop exchange...anymore and I'll end up getting tagged as some sort of return fraud by BestBuy at this point.

    first g14 2021 constant BSOD
    second g14 sound popping
decided to switch it up hp omen 2021 flimsy af and constant fans at idle with no fan curve control
first g15 back light bleed galore
second g15 perfect screen.. literally no blb to be seen. booted up a game and not one minute later, some random granny shows up my door and asks to join for tea sessh

    there was no tea.

this incredibly high pitch steam noise cannot be normal. only gpu side. cpu side is a cool whooosh.

can't even go to the physical store no more, dudes will think im crazy.
I'll probably just ship this one back and live in shame

i was in the middle of checking out 13NR04J0T03111 (vga fan for GA503QS) then i realized I shouldn't have to purchase parts already for a new device.

EDIT: purchased another one online BESTBUY.. going to compare the two.

I had had luck, getting the GA503 with 3080 for only 1780€ as B-Ware. I hope that it won't have any of the typical problems, which were claimed in this thread.

I'll let you know in the next days.

I purchased a 3080 G15 but promptly returned it as it idles at least 10 degrees warmer than my XPS 17, plus the AMD GPU driver would not never load, not even with a clean installation of either the software or operating system.

Got my G15 model today ( 5800HS with RTX 3080)

    Benchmark results:

    FIRESTRIKE
Performance Mode: 22997 points, GPU peak 86°C, CPU peak 95°C
Turbo Mode: 23827 points, GPU peak 84°C, CPU peak 96°C
Manual mode (CPU to max, GPU +100Mhz on Core and Memory): 24179 points, GPU peak 70°C, CPU peak 84°C (thanks to fans on 100%)

    TIMESPY
Performance Mode: 9945 points, GPU peak 84°C, CPU peak 96°C
Turbo Mode: 10523 points, GPU peak 82°C, CPU peak 98°C

CPU temp is on the high side. Nevertheless I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

Hi guys ;-) after having a really good run with the Dell Precision 7530 I moved to the Zephyrus G14 (4900HS, 32GB, 2060) a year ago which was an amazing device. But I missed the RJ45 jack... and also the 14" was not the perfect size for me. So I now moved on to the G15 GA503QS (5900HS, 32GB, 3080) which is a really AMAZING device but gives me headaches after headaches. So I thought why not ask you guys since we are all in the same boat if some of you have similar experiances or issues.

First of all my device in the original config (1 TB NVME) worked so far so good. Did some initial Benchmarks with Cinebench R20 who scored perfectly where I wanted it to. Then the MyASUS Updates came along and it seams (like I said - wanted your opinion - this is just mine) f***ed everything up... After Bios 408 it and some Firmware Updates it seams that my Notebook can no longer go into standby. Also I tried a dual nvme setup on 404 which worked. Not in RAID but I had two NVME's I could use. After 408 with two NVMEs inside the notebook won't start 9 out of 10 times.

Thanks for your help and ideas :)

I've disabled Fast Startup, never disabled hibernate so it's a combination of these 2.
Looks good btw. I do have some issues, according to powercfg /sleepstudy && powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics my G15 (QS) goes into display off > sleep and then wakes up every single hour. Not sure what causes this, I need to do some more debugging.
If on battery, it switches to hibernate after a while, due to the standby budget being depleted.
Not sure if this is W10 or an app which is doing weird stuff.. My previous MSI would go into standby, and then the next morning the battery would be empty.

My fans will turn off in standby, but the leds don't behave as per the manual.

Wanted to flash the vBIOS to a higher TDP of 115W but it isn't working for me. I am using the latest version of NVFLASH and tried multiple roms. The only one that worked was an earlier version of the G15's own vbios. When I attempt to flash with anything else I get this error:

    ''NOTE: Exception caught.
    Nothing changed!

    ERROR: Board ID mismatch.''

Can anyone help me find a way around this?
