Glad to hear it went well. I just ordered a replacement g14 heatsink to see if that solves my temp issues, im probably going go back to regular tim as the difference is small. My back panel screws are done for, what screws did you replace them with, I haven't found any that are the right size

Try telling these programs to run on the Igpu within windows graphics settings

I went with M2 x 8mm and 4mm. the 4MM are good for the front screws. The rest of the screws are 8.5mm. I went with 8MM and they're a tad short... I might try 9mm length. https://www.ebay.com/itm/293631927908?hash=item445dd3a664:g:q~AAAOSw1EZe-mfP

i have G14 model with R7 and 3060, nickel plated GPU heatsink,
I would gladly post images, but , dont know where to host images to have a link for this forum.

Nickel plating - electrolytic, made my own green tonic with white vinegar and aliexpress nickel plate. then i connected electrodes, one to heatsink one to nickel plate, soaked cloth in green nickel tonic and ,,painting,, turou cloth carefully nickel plated GPU part of heatsink, you need to soak cloth in nickel plating solution, after a while again soaking, cloth must have always be full of nickel particles. Enjoyed some accidental more than 10A sparks when i touched heatsink with electrode :D yes be careful !
Applied LM, made foam enclosure like CPU have, double sided tape and cut 2mm foam pieces, applied gloss warmish on SMD near GPU and also CPU.
putted it back together enjoyed better temps lover noise ;)

also accidentaly deleted bios with HW programmer from GPU, yeah, month ago i subscribed mine via GPUz . flashed it back with NVFLASH. and limits on GPU and MEM was gone !! i can go +1000MHz on GPU core (default +200max) and +2000MHz on mem (default +300MHz). im stable with +675MHz on mem, making with +150 gpu 7250 in Time Spy GPU points
I may deleted it again and try to flash something 90W bios.

Thats great to hear you got your GPU back! I also tried flashing another vbios because I want to stop the stupid limits on mem overclocking imposed by Asus +300, right now +180 on core seems to be the sweetspot. I tried using the patched version of nvflash but no luck, do you know if people have had success flashing their bios without a HW programmer?

Also, my G14 with 3060 never goes to 80W, at best I see it go to maybe 75W for a split second, most of the time it is around 65W...Is this normal, what have you guys seen your 3060 running at?

    Thanks crew! Cheers!

Thanks, without programmer i cant do anything, rutine is putting programmer clips from EZP2010 programmer, and erased bios, then you can boot to windows, it may hang on boot, long press power button, start again and you are in windows.
Yesterday i played more with this file 85w (234206.rom) https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/234206/234206.
I scored much higher in Time Spy, 7600 points on GPU, but it was louder clock on GPU was almost same around 1500MHz, mem 7200MHz.
    https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/63993094
In mining i got lover hashrate, i tried same GPU clock, i tried -200, stocks 7000 and + 300. I think mem had much more voltage and worse timings, on (stock with oc) 6650 i got 38,2MHs, on 85w bios i got only 36,3MHs.

    I flashed back my bios
    https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/233433/233433
On stock bios i can do 72xx with custom fan curve and boost on efficient enabled, 35/50w SPL/SPTT.
I only want 5 to 10w more of power, i think it would be better to shun mod this, putting 30mOhm on top of 5mOhm (8w more) gpu and 40mOhm to mem.
for power, in time spy i saw 75w isch with that modded bios 85w. i will look for other bios i had skilz for soldering SMDs but its in warranty .

    Here's my shunt modded 2021 G14.

    https://www.3dmark.com/spy/20362141

Should be drawing right around 100W before dynamic boost. I didn't want to go too far with the shunt mod due to the heatsinks thermal capacity since it's moved around often.

Very nice! You're soo temping to make me mod my wire mod even more...but alas I don't think that's really going to boost scores much...Thermally and power wise I think I'm close to the max for this laptop... Still very respectable for gaming in 2021...

Wow, nice score, thats what i was expecting when i was flashing this machine.
Did you replaced shunt resistors ? what values?

    Hi,

I am a potential buyer for G14 series, since I have sold my desktop gaming station.

I ended up back in here to read all history about your experiences. But surprised to have been reading you are having maintenance on heatsink personally.

What caused you do that, is there any common issue on the G14 series?

I'm sure many of us have seen the new reveal from AMD on the G14? 6980HX and 6800S GPU...new cooling... I'm sure that thing is going to be an absolute beast! Probably double the GPU performance of my lowly 2060 max-q.....ugh. lol

At this rate of GPU improvement I foresee 4k gaming becoming the new 1080 and graphics are really going to take a huge leap...assuming they can deliver despite the chip shortages...

Don't forget the 6800S is a cut-down version of the 6800M so it's not going to perform as well. Mainstream 4K/60 gaming is still a ways off, even longer for laptops.

Saturnotaku is right. It's going to be a while before 4K gaming is the norm for laptop users.

We're only now starting to see usable frame rates on 1440p displays. I had the Razer Blade 14 with a QHD display and 3070. I found myself dropping down to 1080p and low graphical settings in Warzone in order to increase the frames (granted, that's not an easy game to get high FPS with).

I don't mind making sacrificing a little performance in smaller and lighter laptops though.

TBH I'm perfectly finest still gaming at 1080P and the newer screens on the G14 are much better with faster response times.
Best things about the 2022 model are the addition of a Mux switch, vapor chamber and higher Watt GPU's , just still wondering how the AMD 6800S is in comparison with the RTX 3060, , I hear it'll be comparable to a low watt RTX 3070/3080 but I'll believe when I see it.

Sounds like they've picked the right GPU as thermals and battery life are a bigger factor with smaller laptops.

The G15 is still super light at 1.9KG, so I'd be tempted to move towards that for extra performance. I'll wait to see what the reviews say.

Any word on release dates for the G14 and G15?

Q2 , thing is the G15 doesn't have an all AMD SKU , would of loved to see it get the same hardware updates as the G14.
Don't get me wrong the G15 should still be a great improvement over last years model with 120W Nvidia GPU's and 240Hz screen but would of liked to see a vapor chamber to help keep it extra cool, either way you look at it both have gotten pretty substantial hardware upgrades from the previous gen.

I like the idea of an all AMD device too. I was tempted with the Asus Strix AE because it has the 5900HX and 6800M.

With the G15, I like the addition of a webcam, mux switch and 240hz WHD display. Hopefully, thermals are still good.
