Sorry for the typo. Yup I got mine at 72c (74c tops) when running 2k10, wolf.
Wow, you got one hot rig there though i wouldn't be all that surprised since you're doing Folding@home. But jeez, that would get me real worried. It hasn't automatically turned off under that heat?

Nope, I've been using it 10 months and haven't ever had a crash or anything. But I'm slightly worried since this is a good bit hotter than I saw it when I first started paying attention. Next time I turn it off I'm gong to try to stare in the vent, see if I see any giant dust clumbs or something

Hey, was wondering what you guys use to clean your laptops?
Just bought some Philips anti-static cleaning wipes although I'm quite sure there's a hint of alcohol that I smell. Is this safe to use on the laptop?
Thanks! -
what do you mean by clean..? external cleaning? or internal touchups after air-can spraying? i have some microfiber cloths i use for either. alchohol based wipes are probably a bad idea to use for the screen, as they yellow the screen over time. not sure what it would do to internal parts but i'd doubt it would be good.

thanks, youchian. hey guys i got another random question. i leave my laptop off (also with the battery out) but plugged in. Is it going to damage my adaptor?
-
It will probably shorten the lifespan of the adaptor somewhat, but it's such a simple, reliable electric component that this difference will be insignificant to you; which means that the adaptor will still run years down the line, when some other component inside your laptop breaks down and makes it unusable.
I am not sure how much of this applies to the circuits inside the laptop that are powered on when plugged in, but I suspect a similar reasoning applies.
FWIW, I do not keep my laptop plugged in, I unplug it (or at least remove the adapter prong from the laptop) when not in use. Not necessarily to avoid wear, but to minimize the (remote) possibility of bad things happening on the power network affecting to the notebook. -
Is the n80V's screen supposed to be so blueish compared to every other notebook I put it beside. I checked all the color options, everythings normal...
-
It might kind of appear that way, depending on what you're used to or comparing it to. It seems like a lot of displays with white LED backlighting end up more blueish looking than florescent displays which end up looking really yellow.
EDIT: Both my Asus n80nv and my Dell G2210 probably look bluer than my old display, which now looks super yellow. -
Does anyone have a CD/DVD drive for an N80Vn, mine has never worked and warranty takes too long...
