I have disassembled the N71JQ which is basically the same machine except that it has i7 processor.
I have applied IC Diamond 7 on both GPU and CPU.
To reach the CPU/GPU, you have to disassemble the notebook completely.
You can have a look at the following thread. You will find there the disassembly guide in addition to the backlight keyboard mode that I implemented on my N71JQ:

Thanks for the info!
Now i can say: HOLY CRAP!!! Just like my old toshiba - i thought asus was easier! I am not going to do that, since my computer is only 2 months old.
I disassembled my previous laptop after 2 years, when my warranty had expired and still was very fearful and unsure it would start again (luckily it did).
I just wanted to reapply a better thermal paste, but since i do not have such big thermal issues (under load my GPU max is 73°C and CPU 78°C), i belive that it's not worth it!
What do you think?
Thank you for the help!

If you apply the past yourself you could break the warranty void sticker that is on the CPU heatsink and eventually you will not have warranty coverage any more. -
Hi oc-freak and the rest of the people who has knowdlege about overclocking.. i am in need of some help in some sort. i have a similar laptop to this, which has 16'' screen and i7, the rest is the same. i am using this amd gpu tool and when i clockit up to 750MHz Core and 900MHz Memory i see colour changes on my screen and couple of secs later screen goes blind. i just wanted to know if my graphcs card faulty or am i the one doing something wrong. also on windows rating my graphics card gets 5,9 points and your graphics card gets 6,9... i am really thinking that my graphics card is faulty at this moment i heard that Ati Mobility HD 5730 was a pretty good card for gaming now i am getting laggs, it hasnt been 10 days since i bought the laptop...
thanks, -
Hello.
First of all - do you have the newest GPU driver installed? If your OS is Win7, there are a few drivers that need to be installed manually. The GPU driver is one of them if you plan to squeeze max power out of it.
Here is the link to the newest driver for mobility hd5730 for asus:
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
Select product: Notebook
Select series: Drivers
Select models: VGA
Use Version V8.692.1.0 - these are the latest video drivers.
Furthermore, not every card is equal. For example - my max frequency is 800/1000, after that i get artifacts (color changes), where as some cards will go higher and some lower. It depends on the chip, i think...
And if you overclock, use step increment (let say +10,+5 Mhz), don't just apply the clocks you think are ok.
Also monitor the temperature - RealTemp 3.46 has the option to monitor both CPU and GPU temps.
If you did all of the above, than maybe your card is indeed faulty.
Hope this helps a bit.
Bye,

I have an N61JA with the i5-450M CPU, and I want to overclock it using SetFSB. I'm not having any luck using OC-Freaks method and I appear to be missing some of the PLL registers in SetFSB.
I'm wondering if the N71JA motherboard is the same, and whether I can flash that BIOS on to my N61 without lunching it. Does anyone know?
Has anyone managed to overclock their N61JA? -
hi everyone
i just bought a new x77ja with an I3 350 i was wondering what is the highest powerful cpu i can put instead of i350
Thanx for your help -
Hi,
here are your processor specifications:
Intel® Core? i3-350M Processor (3M Cache, 2.26 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SLBPK, SLBPL, SLBU5, SLBU6
Check under the sockets supported (your are BGA1288, PGA988).
You can check other processors with the same socket type - like i5 or i7 (don't know about 2nd generation processors though).
You also should check your motherboard socket for compatibility.
Regards. -
Thanx kpoopk for the information but not only the i have to check the socket and the bios too i wanted to know up to what cpu the bios supports

I managed to ruin the ac-connector on my X77JA... How? I stepped on the cable... So now i have too push the cable into the connector, and kinda tweak it up to make it connect...
So, i was thinking of dissassmbling my x77ja, and mold the connector to fix it. Will this be much job? i looked at the dissassemble-guide here, but i couldnt find out how much i had to do to get too it... Any ideas?
