Wishmaster, Quit wishing that the X1 has a 2 year warrranty. It is 1 year no matter where you find it. Go for the A1 if you want 2 years. And speaking of wishing. My wish is that people would quit posting on this thread and move over to the N61JQ thread! I brought this thread into the world so I can take it out. :D

Just bought this laptop from Newegg.com. Part of the decision was made because of this helpful forum.

Just got it tonight, disappointed so far that it seems there is no way to boot the drive with a fresh windows install? Does this product not actually come with Windows 7? If you can't reinstall a clean copy of windows from the disks provided with the machine, it really doesn't truly come with windows ;)

Any help/clarification from anyone here. I want to get rid of ALL the bloatware and have a clean install of windows. Don't tell me I have to buy windows 7 now...

So uninstall the few programs you dont want......very few computers ever come with a brand new windows 7 disk.....they all come with a restore disk just like this one did.

So, the restore disk, if for some reason in the future I needed to reinstall everything, the computer gets massively infected or something... not saying it will happen, just an example... but I need to completely start fresh from the OS install level, is the restore disk capable of this? Can I repartition the drive with this?

Just confused because our other laptop we bought a few years ago DID have the ability to do that, although you had to make sure to backup your drivers first.

If you want better help with this laptop please post in the N61JQ Owners Lounge. This lounge is a combination of 3 N61 lounges. The lounge you are posting on now was moved to the new lounge on 2/6. You are the first to post here since then so you might not get the advice you are seeking here. And if we start posting here we will end up with multiple threads again. So congratulations on your new N61. I think you will love it. Gome join us in our new lounge. :D

Hi, I just purchased the Asus N61JQ-X1 and everything is running fine except for the built-in microphone. It is not clear at all when it is recording, it muffles sounds, and there is a lot of static. Does anybody know what is wrong?

Anyone have any luck with some stylish bags?

It's kinda tall... which sucks because it seems it won't fit into many bags, including the Timbuk2 Commute 2.0 which I was wanting.

Tried some Diesel bags yesterday and they fit inside but not in the laptop padded area.

Looking for a waterproof one since it rains all the time here in Tokyo. Also needs to be stylish and go with suit/biz casual

I bought my N61-JQ the first day they came out. the first thing i did was to add another 4gig stick of PC DDR3 1066. then i installed an Intel SSD. I use Diskeeper with Hyperfast to keep my SSD optimized. My N61 screams. It is by far the best notebook you can get for $1000. Even without my upgrades it is still a great notebook. I own 5 Asus PC's. I have I have a G50, 2 G71's, N61, EEE PC 1000 that I put Win 7 on. Asus is by far the brand I will be sticking with.
