Hey Guys,
First post here. Been following everyone's comments on this forum for a while now which is why I chose to buy an N61JQ-A1 from ncix.com a few weeks ago.
Quick question for anyone who can help me. Does anyone have issues with the left side of the keyboard having more flex and making louder clicking/rattling sounds when typing compared to the right??
I love the laptop but the excessive noise when typing makes me feel like there is a problem with the laptop I received.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks guys
Dave

I'm loving my n61jq. I tried crysis demo on a mixture of very high, high and 1 medium. No lags. At native without aa

Hope this helps -
Mine is fine. I didn't even have to change the display settings. Is it because of the angle of your view? Hmm...
Wow the new drivers for 5730 is out? Wanna update soon
I met my friend ytd who owns a sony vaio z series and the 1st thing he says when he open up my lappy and boot it up was.... "wow... Your baby has nice screen and the colour is awesome" -

For anyone looking for a 9-cell battery for this laptop it looks like Gentech is selling it with the laptop
http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=N61JQ-A1
If any of the other resellers offer a 9-cell post it here. -

We haven't seen our resellers here lately. -

I see Ally has email GenTech so I'll await that response. How much do we think a nine cell would give in terms of battery life though? -

Anyway I have had this laptop for three days now and loving it (although I haven't done any gaming on it yet). No peeling for me and it doesn't look like it will be problem soon (laptop has been in bag for 4-5 times now).
If anyone cares, then I changed optical drive for blu-ray and it works without any problems and the picture is beautiful(blu-ray drive was sony optiarc 5500)

When I installed the preview version it recognized the vid card as a 5000 series instead of the 5730. Does the official 10.3 recognize the vid card a 5000 series as well? -
But if you find one that can then the drive switching is easy (I hadn't done it before but it was really logical).
One thing I haven't figured out - how do you format this computer without the bloatware? I made recovery discs (4) and reinstalled windows but it installed with all the same bloatware as before. Currently I uninstalled most of these "free" programs (my favorite was "wedding in Manhattan" or something like that) but it took almost 20 minutes. If anyone figures out how to do a clean install with recovery discs, I would really appreciate the info. -
-
I think you have to remove the programs first and then create the recovery disks in order to not have them when you do a restore.
I am not sure about this because I have not made the recovery discs (I have a 7 year old and discs become frisbees)
-
Now I have no idea how much better it would be to upgrade to 9 cell.

You list a 9 cell battery at $189 for the N61JQ-A1. I did not know ASUS was providing this battery for this laptop. Is this a misprint or can I buy one of these from you?
Hello Greg,
The N61, M50, M60, G50 and G51 are build by the same chassis, they share the same battery. yes you can buy from us if you want.

On the peeling issue. I was thinking if you are using a bag it might be a good idea to always make sure the lip side is facing up so it won't rub on the bottom of the bag.
It might just be a few of these were not applied correctly and the average N61 might not ever have this problem. -

Is it normal for my X1's battery power to drain when its plugged in?

), but it looks exactly like before because the bezel is from the dvd drive (these can easily be changed). So it looks as it would be a dvd drive but inside is the BR drive. I watched this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CpOL8y2B9Q and the main points are the same. So if you haven't done it before (I hadn't) it gives you a good basic idea what to expect.
But to be honest this is totally overdamatic because if you know what a skrewdriver looks like then you can't go wrong. Main thing is to find the correct BD drive (anything that looks like this http://www.thg.ru/howto/shuttle_xs29f_via_nano_u1700/images/optiarc_bc-5500s.jpg should work. Or at least it worked for me. Don't be mad if this info is incorrect as I have only tried it once and succeded so of course I imagine I'm now competent enough to teach the whole world how to build a laptop from scratch -

Will the 9 Cell battery stick out the back or will it be flush? Will it raise the laptop or will it be flat?
Oh and how much mroe life? -
anybody feel the same way?
Gona try 3d mark soon to check if there are any improvements on it After the driver update -

If I were to wager a guess I'd say I'll get just over 3 hours. If you think about it 6-cells gets 2 hours and you add 3 more cells you're going to get about another hour. -
Well I ordered my laptop exactly one month ago from amazon...
Still waiting for it...
I stopped reading this thread on page 150 or so... I got some catching up to do... -
As a follow up whom has it in stock now? I could go a few pages back, but that could be old info....
I'm actually amazed I've been waiting a monthin the tech world that's like forever!
I got side tracked and got a fish tank and picked up a new hobby... lol
The original excitement for this laptop kinda wore off, I'm hoping it will come back when it comes! -
-
-
^ I hear you. I ordered the 12th and it feels like forever. Fingers crossed for the 31st.
(OT: BTW, how big is the fish tank and what are you keeping?)
-
Be patience my friends....your waiting will be paid off.
I have been using mine for about 2 weeks now, and I don't have any complain yet.
-
Just ordered my n61jq-x1 off of amazon today.. let the wait begin =/
