I believe only the -XE1 version has the FHD (1080) screen. The others do not.

Has anyone found / done an installation for an internal bluetooth module?
I've tried searching around and can't seem to find anything on the N53JF.
Cheers. -
Hey guys, just got my repaired N53JF-A1 back from Accidental Damage Program (water spilled - new mainboard replaced). Now, I have new problem, my laptop could not connect to any wireless network. Before getting the mainboard replaced, it could detect at least 6 or 7 networks but now only 2 networks with extremely low signals (one or two bars). My wireless card is Atheros AR9285, I need some helps now

im looking to upgrade my n54jf's ram but i cant seem to figure out what i should get. i have CPUID CPU-Z installed (it gives you information on your system) and its telling me that the max frequency on my ram is 667 MHz yet on the ASUS site it says the ram is 1066 MHz. i also opened up my laptop and the ram had a sticker on it that sed 1033 MHz. ASUS has to pull there together. should i go with the 667, the 1066 or with the 1333 and will there be a difference in performance?

This is where I gather all my RAM info. You may need to negotiate through several pages beyond what I am directly linking you to in order to get a full answer:
Computer memory upgrades for ASUS N53Jf Laptop/Notebook from Crucial.com
I can't speak directly to the N54, but when I looked into this for my N53JF-XE1 some months back, the conclusion I walked away with was that the faster MHz, I guess that's 1333, had no real world advantage due to the system architecture of the notebook.
If the price difference is negligble, however, you may want to go with this fastest workable memory only in that there is a slight possibility you might reuse it in some future notebook where the added MHz does come into play. -
I've been having issues with my N53JF and its battery performance. I bought my laptop in January 2011, so it's about 1.5 years old. About two months ago, the OEM Asus battery that came with my laptop would not charge past 34% percent or so. Then, when it was discharged, it would take forever to recharge again (especially when the laptop was running).
Asus support asked me to discharge it all the way, then keep it powered off and plug it in again to recharge. This didn't help, so I bought a supposedly brand new but genuine Asus battery off Ebay. While it will charge to 100%, it recharges slowly when the laptop is running and faster when it's powered off. For instance, it's been stuck on 8% for the past 90 minutes or so.
Needless to say, this battery performance leaves a lot to be desired. My wife's Dell laptop is still on its original battery and is at least 5 years old. Has anyone else run into a similar situation with their Asus laptop, and do you have any suggestions?
By the way, I charged and discharged this replacement battery 3 times to help condition it before I used it.
Thanks in advance! -
As one person put it, "Ebay is a sea of counterfeit/fake batteries". Even if they cancel one seller's account there are ten more to fill the spot.
The trick to identifying the fakes from the real ones is impossible (with 100% certainty) without cracking open the outer casing, ruining the product, and examining the internal cells. Even then it might not be so easy.
Sorry I don't have better news for you.
If the new battery was purchased through an authorized dealer, then it probably has a 90 day warranty and Asus will fix/replace it free of charge, I'd think.
Ask Asus what to do and I wish you good luck.

I knew I was taking a risk with a cheaper battery bought on eBay, though it was listed as OEM and branded Asus. But my question remains...what is everyone else's battery performance like on their N53JF? I can buy a battery directly from Asus this time, but I don't want to have it go out on me again a little past the one year mark. Shouldn't a battery last longer?
I have the latest version of BIOS on this laptop...I was wondering if having an older version was part of my problem, but apparently not. -
I have a N53JG & it hardly gives me 1.5 hours.

N53JF, with past problems displaying flash videos. I've been pestered by this before, and reverted to flash 10.3 which worked for a while.
Flash 11.3 crashes | Troubleshooting | Firefox Help
That is until 2 days ago. Now neither 10.3 or the latest 11 runs. Curiously, HTML5 doesn't work now either. I don't recall installing anything to cause this.
Thoughts?
:more info:
Checked all drivers and already were up to date.
Come to find out the problem is with firefox, IE works fine. Id rather use firefox though. Still looking for a fix. -
Flash videos stop working at times but then there's some update, to what, I don't know, and they seem to work again. Only some allow me to watch full screen, most just show a black screen with audio working.

Anyone else with an external hard drive on USB get a "Unable to eject the drive at this time because some other program is using the drive." warning when they attempt to use the safe to remove icon?
Opening the task manager to deduce which of the zillions of undecipherable programs it might be, that run in the background, is impossible for my level of expertise. [It's Greek to me.]
How about Canon all-in-one printers not working unless you engage "troubleshoot" each time you attempt to print? That one might be related to "User Account Control" but I like to leave that running if at all possible for my protection. -
I've got 4 computers here, all running the same version of firefox, and the Asus is the one that has trouble with flash and html5. I'm reluctant to try this brand again when it's time to replace it.

Hello,
I recently bricked my ASUS N53JF and the only way to revive it is to reprogram the BIOS chip. Would you be kind enough to provide me a BIOS dump?
Here's a tool you can use, it should only take less than a minute:: Download Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0.exe from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
Once downloaded, right click and run as administrator. Click "Read", once finished, click "Backup". Lastly, save it and somehow get me the file.
This would truly help. It will allow me to revive my dead laptop.
Thanks, -
hi everybody, I need to know if this notebook has UEFI support for installation on another operating system (not windows)
