how does this handle world in conflict and how will it handle rts in the future.
-
Does this model have international warranty? will it be valid in European countries, like Hungary or Romania?
-
-
with the new cpu was is the actual performance speed like what is it rated at? how many ghz?

I've been monitoring different laptops for a few months for college with this one in my top 3. My biggest concern had been battery life. Another review of this model with the new montevina chip rates the 9 cell at only like 3 hrs. Were you really able to squeeze out 4(that'd be awesome) from the B1 and can you put up a pic of it with the 9 cell on. Thanks a lot for doing the review though, i'll most likely be buying one of these. Now im deciding between this, t500 thinkpad, and waiting to see what graphics card is in the new macbook pro.

If it's fully charged and just doing web browsing yes I did get 4 hours with 9 cell. -
Only a 12 minute difference between the 6 cells isn't very impressive. I guess the B1 is the laptop to get.
-
The Geforce 9600M GS looks to be around the same in performance to a Geforce 8600M GT DDR3. From what you've shown (in another fabulous review) the 9600M GS pulls 4408 in 3dmark06 at 1280x720 while my 9500M GS pulls 4014 with 177.39 driver at 1280x800. The 9600 series look promising to me.
-
could you please clarify which model you were using in those scores and the ones listed in the review?
was it the P8400 cpu, or the T9400 cpu?
IF its e p8400 i'll be doubly cheesed
i didn't expect to see an extra 700+ 3dm06 scores, AND an extra 50mins battery life. as well as the faster and more ram, and bigger hdd.
grrr, a difference of 3 weeks it make for me it think. i should have waited. eff sharp -
any chance someone can post temps? idle and load for cpu and video card?
i'm interested to see how hot that 65nm 9600 gs gets compared to the m50sv-a1
using HWmonitor or GPU-Z please
www.cpuid.com -
It's the T9400 BTW if you're too lazy. -
-
hmm which model should i get. i do paint but as a amateur and not much and not intense so that doesnt really matter but mostly the usual with gaming proably fps most of the time and basically every other category. will the different models produce noticeably different results?
ps: sometimes i have to convert movies for my ipod will that become faster with the b1? -

Great review Ken! I love how you put so much time and effort into the main new releases. If the C90P falls thru, this is a laptop I would get to replace my C90S.
-
hm more future proof? how do you mean will the b1 last that much longer that it justifies the 150 dollar increase?
-
-
hmm i heard about quad cores in mobiles? is this true? will it truley outperform this laptop? will there be a huge price difference?
-
I guess the prices would be off the charts. but i don't think we (especially the software companies) are ready yet. From what i read, even if you have a quad core pc if the software is not prepped for multi-threading then it would have no sense. Especially in gaming. Although there is another technology that toshiba is presenting through their Qosmio G50 . It's similar to the processor that the PS3 is using
-
the link is broken. you forgot to include the parentheses at the end =)
-
CPU shouldn't make much different in gaming, it's more depend on GPU.
Asus said C90P should be release on July but still nothing yet, don't believe their ETA anymore. -
well i guess quads wont be all that mainstream until a while away and that wont be until its time to get a new laptop if i get the m50 right now?
-
Thank You so much. Not doing any programming so gah this is a tempting book. -
Crispymango could you please repeat your question i kinda got lost there =)
I took a look at the specs of the pc that you were talking about and man... i think it's like a mobile server. like it would be good for those CIA agents that are are tracking a guy from their van connecting to satellite imaging servers and such ahehe -
-
i was wondering when quad cores in laptops would go mainstream. edit: HOLY SHIZZLE STICKS BATMAN. i just read about the mac pro desktops with 8 cores at 3 ghz each. wats the point of that? i just read most software wont even be able to utilize 4 cores...

more cores = more "online" chicks =p

My C90S was faster than my old desktop, but the new one... hows 19,400 3dmark06 sound or triple digit FPS in any game I toss at it with max settings in 1920x1080 resolution. -
-
You really are VICIOUS =p
-
I checked vicious' rig and what the heck!! how did you get that score??? it's like your 4850 eats the gtx 280 for breakfast luch dinner and midnight snacks ahaha =p 671 fps max on fear what??? i think it's like a blur hahaha =p glad to have you here again . it seems that you are also active on the Asus forums =)
-
So, is the 8gb express card thing a standard pack in from asus or it something you guys add on your own? Should it be available if I buy it from another vender? I was probably going to buy from you guys but it seems you are sold out now.
-
heck even though i heard some stuff about quad cores im going to continue on buying this puppy
-

Ken wrote... Like Vladk1000 said, it's the B1.
CPU shouldn't make much different in gaming, it's more depend on GPU.
I know you probably got your hands full, but when you get a chance, would you please post some CPU benchmarks? wPrime would be helpful..
Thanks,
Dick -
Already tried v155 and v163 and got same error, need to wait for the new version:
-
do you think this laptop will be able to play a just released game 2 years in the future? (just released as in a game coming out in 2 years)

Hmm I dunno whats up with your wprime error Ken.
You ran it as administrator? Thats the first thing I always try if something wont work right in Vista. That or on my most recent Vista install I actually turned UAC off completely.
Other than that, if you cant get it working. I suggest you try superpi for now, its still a well known cpu benchmark and can show some relative numbers in the difference of the cpu speeds.
(P.S. 11.217seconds is the wprime for the new desktop ) -

Cool, glad I could help.

I have quite a few of the top spots -
Hi KEN it's daaudio!! remember me Sup guys so is there so much difference inbetween the B1 model with 6mb cache and 2.5ghz to the A1? is it really worth the price difference.. 3mb cache vs 6mbcache?

Dear Crispy,
Mix yourself a drink and relax. These guys are do not have a crystal ball and thus are not equipped to predict the direction of the ever changing technology in this arena.
Word of advice. Start a garden. Vegetable or flower will suffice. It helped me. Things have slowed down considerably. I am no longer quite as obsessed with acquiring the latest and greatest.
Although, I will admit some vague relief at not springing for the M50SV now that the latest and greatest - the M50VM has made it appearance. On the other hand, I will *pay* too. The day it is delivered, the M50Q4 (quad 4) with a 500GB HD partitioned with XP Pro and Vista 64 bit Ultimate - on special for $1099 will be announced.
Dick: -
yea i was just learning about this stuff so i got a little excited. and lol i wish that other set up was true lol for 1099
-
Just wondering if anyone is experiencing vibration issues from the built in sub-woofer...i.e. could the vibration affect a dvd playing?
-
wPrime:
T9400: 30.311
P8400: 33.571
