Very nice initiative Voodooi. I was wondering if somebody can help me install 260.99 drivers on my g73jw-3de, i know 3d will stop working, but i need a more reliable driver i want constant fps in my games and belive the 261.14 driver is causing games delays. My friend installed the 260.99 driver on his g73jw-a1 and drivers worked with a modificated .inf file, but here this same inf is useless.

EDIT: I discover how to install 260.99 drivers, you need to make an adicional change in your inf file , go to device manager and choose display adapters . right click on your gtx 460M and you will see combo, select hardware ids and you will see our id is different from g73jw-a1 my id is this one: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_203D1043&REV_A1. Open your modify nvam.inf(based on 260.63 drivers) file and change all 20141043 entry(2 entrys need to be modified) for 203D1043(our model), save file and gg.
Obs: drivers does not fix the sc2 problem i have, freezing the game sometimes. Crysis warhead got some random sound+fps freeze too. Going to test other games later.

Was really close to buying an A1 till I saw this. Are there any release dates? I couldn't see any.

I'm in the UK and it looks like (for all of the g73 series) its must cheaper to import it, or get my girlfriend to pick it up next time she's home (shes from NY).

Is this a good deal? Certainly seems it to me but hey, what do I know :)

V.interested in buying it. Any info would be great.

i'd say its a great deal.. it won't beat an A1 in pure gaming performance but if u want 3D , go ahead and get it. If you don't , your better off with an A1 or B1.

I live in brazil and got my g73jw-3de from BH(new york).Overall the laptop is very good but I notice some problems. The most irritating one is that some games random freezes for 1 second and continue normally after, i cant discover why, its furmark/prime 95 stable, must be some driver issue.

Yeah it sucks that we can't use the latest drivers. I had having to choose between 3D working and up to date drivers lol.

I'm going to keep stock for now since I haven't noticed any major issues and we found a resolution to the game lag (posted in the other 3DE thread). :)

There are a lot of 3D relevant posts in the G53JW thread, just as a heads up. I know, I know, it's the 15inch not the 17 inch model... but they've got lots of discussion over drivers going on...

    First impression: It's humongous

    About the bloatwares:
Did this laptop come with any bloatwares?
    I think I don't see any.

I'll post more about it later!

Yeah, it's out of stock until the start of January right now. Very popular unit, despite the annoying issues that comes with it (all user fixable).

You should order it now and get it delivered to your GF NY hotel/house. Earlier you order, the more chances you have of getting it on that date.

Edit: Actually, GenTechPC has some in stock. I was just about to grab the date for you and saw "instock" instead.

For me to scroll up and down using the touch pad I have to place my finger over to the right side near the edge of the touch pad for it to work. It doesn't seem to work any place else for me. Hope that helps you out.

    Hey guys,
I'm interested in purchasing the new 3DE model, but, as a G71G owner, I've noticed a lot of flaws in Asus' drivers that makes the laptop a deal breaker. For instance, I still have the occasional double keystroke issue. (ex: whenn I type two keys appear). Another issue is not so responsive touchpad as opposed to the Vaios series.

With that said, can you guys give me some feedback on some flaws you see with the model? I know I read somewhere that there has been some constant chokes when gaming on this laptop. Any news on that? Any other flaws you guys would like to share? Other than that, I'm down to either getting this or waiting on the newer Sandy Bridge model in the coming month,

Your temps are ok. 45 -46-50-45 celsius for my cpu cores and 43 for gpu now.
IDK why core 3 is hotter maybe wrong termal paste aplication but i think its ok.My thermal paste is stock.

Very nice gpu temperature under stress.
You got thermal paste upgrade? I got 75 - 79 celsius stressing with furmark but it`s summer here in Brazil

Free back pak to fit it. gaming mouse. its no RAT but its free :) 3d glasses 120hz screen. WOW is all i can say. I had no real issues with mine. other then I had to restore it a few days after i got it but my own fault. and the backlit keys had to be reinstalled a few times but im guessing this was something i was doing as well.

Hey guys, I travel alot with my Asus G73JW-3DE. One time i went to school and turn my laptop on and it got stuck at the Starting Windows screen. I had to force shut it down. Then I turn it back on and it work again. It seems like when ever i travel my G73JW-3DE will get stuck at the starting windows screen. Does anybody have that problem. There aren't that many bumps on the way from my home to school. I just hope traveling doesn't damage it somehow.

Do you leave it on when you transport it to school? or do you let it hibernate like laptops are suppose to when you close the lid?

I Finally got mine last week but it arrived with one of the HDs DOA. I also had to get the optical drive caddy so I could install a hard drive over there.
Final Mods (until I can get a new SSD)
    Intel 6300 wireless
    60 GB OCZ SSD
    2 x 500 GB 7200 RPM HDD (non hybrid)
    Cobalt Blue Keyboard mod
    16GB DDR3 Ram
    Coolskin TPU keyboard cover
    USB 2.0 Blu-ray drive

I ordered mine from Xotic PC.
I'm a satisfied customer now but there were some issues. In the end I think it was the cheapest for my needs.

There is a bug (firmware or drivers issue). if you connect a usb mouse or another usb device before windows load the notebook stuck. To avoid connect all usb devices before turn on the notebook or after loading windows.

I will try that. But i leave my laptop on my desk with mouse connected and other usb connected and when I turn it on it does not get stuck. I take out all the usb and take it to school and turn it on without no usb attach and it stucks at window screen.

    Also are these temperature normal?
I use CPUID hardware monitor and i'm getting up to max 70c for my I7-740 and my GTX 460m. When i do nothing they go down to like 50c and 46c.

Temperature is normal. I got same temps here 68- 72 c for cpu when i play games and for the gpu 60 - 75 depending on the game.
Furmark + prime 95 at same time my cpu goes to 76 c and my gpu above 80 c after 10 min.
People who have the thermal paste upgrade got better temperatures(5 -8 degrees better) , i think this upgrade really worth the extra money because it gives you more overclock capabilities .

Are the NVidia drivers that ship with the G73JW-3DE the newest? I couldn't find the drivers on ASUS's site specific to the 3DE. Thanks.

I want to update my drivers but I wanted to ask you if everything is still working good after the update?

What are you guys using to clean your laptop? I'm only using the microfiber cloth to clean the screen unless there is something better. I'm just curious about what you are using to clean the rubber casing.

I just wasn't sure what to use to clean it with. I have been using the microfiber cloth for the screen and I would brush it over the rubber and keyboard because I wasn't sure what else to use.

What are you using to clean your 3D Vision Glasses since it did not come with a micro fiber cloth? Are you using the microfiber cloth that came with your laptop or something else because for me it doesn't seem to clean them that well.

Definitely not halved, but I suffer from some mouse lag and slight jittering.

I was just playing Batman Arkham Asylum is super duper quality in both 2D and 3D. Besides, you are not going to want to do everything in 3D 24/7, that's for sure.

    It's also very game dependent.

The new gen cpu wont help you in games. You will notice a frame rate drop in most games when 3d mode is activated like a 20%, 30% frame rate drop depends on the game, and it will still very playable. Some games like bad company 2 you need to lower the resolution/ filters to get a smooth gameplay.

HELPPPPP i got my asus g73 jw 3de and super satisfied. Only there is one thing i really hate. My 3d transmitter stopped working for the 2nd time. The first time happend after i just received my pc. I was able to do a system recovery and the transmitter worked fine again. But today i wanted to show my friends the 3d pictures which come standard with the installation. And the 3d transmitter didnt work again. It seems that the 3dvision picture viewer screws up something. I tried to reinstall the driver again but that didnt help. I called to the helpdesk here in sweden but they dont know anything about this 3d stuff. So i am hoping somebody can help me out here in this forum. Dont want to reinstall windows again since i got my pc exactly as i want it.

3d playing goes well except watching movies cant get those to work i was able to play the demo video on the desktop but the sound was interrupted the whole time. Wanted to watch a 3d movie in 1080p but that one didnt even launch.

Also compared to my old laptop a dellxps duo2core 2ghz and 3 gb memory the launching speeds for example outlook arent really noticeable quicker. Maybe it has something to do with the hybrid hdd???

In regards to the hybrid hdd , there is a known issue with the spindown of these momentus xt. Basically if you are not able to upgrade the firmware (available on seagatesite) you can use a program like CristalDiskInfo to stop the apm (change to max performance, rather than min power) and that should stop the hdd from spinning down when not in use. In theory it shouldn't apply to the OS hdd as that one is always "under charge" and only for second hdd that is not always in use.

myxcon i tried to update the firmware that didnt work when updating the program said it cant download the firmware....on the seagate site it said i had the newest firmware already.... i installed the cristaldiskinfo. And indeed the OS drive apm control was in the middle of performance and min power. i changed the slide to performance lets see if i will notice a difference.

the 3d is fixed again installed the new driver(mentioned on page 4 of this forum) 2 times and the old driver about 3 times dont understand what i or the pc did exactly but all the nvidia stuff are updated and working. :)

You will have to do the apm setting everytime you turn on the pc/reboot as the apm setting will revert back to default settings each time.
To set the apm to max power, open the apm setting tab from advance controls in crystaldisk and there press disable and drag the slider to max performance. Do that for all the drives installed and simply close the program.
After this little tweak I have utterly no lag in games that previously lagged couse of the spindown.

    Hi,

I am a new 3DE owner. Just collected my set yesterday. So far everything works out of the box (was a little worried on the 3D thingy). Tried 3D gaming on Warhammer online and watched a 3D Blueray (Cloudy with a chance of meatball). I will monitor if the sudden missing/loss of functions will occur (touch wood)

As someone mentioned, you wouldn't want to play games in 3D 24/7. It looks nice and fun but long term 3D gaming is really tough on your eyes. I am going to try it on World of Warcraft on flying mount when I have the time.

I must say this is one hell of a notebook.

I am running my games on a USB3 external Hdd and I don't get any lags yet. But I will still install CrystalDiskInfo just in case.

    Hey all,

Ive been reading all the post in here, but im still wondering before I drop 2 grand on this beast. How good is the quality on the HDMI out, once you project it to a screen? Do both the 3d and 2d blu-ray look good? Are games playable like that? Cant wait to order mine friday!
