Here in Sweden ASUS offer to models of the G50V one with a Blu-ray DVD Combo. And as far as I know it mean that I only can watch recorded Blu-ray discs but read and burn DVD/CD? The second G50V has a Blu-ray RW optical reader. So what does RW stands for? If not RW = Read and Wright than I will buy the G50V with the cheapest optical reader and replace it with a Blu-ray burner.

In desperate need of a G50V:confused2:

Blu Ray Combo= reads and wrights cd/DVD/ with lightscribe and only READS Blu Ray discs

Blu Ray RW = reads and writes everything ;)

You can do that. If the Blu Ray it´s not that important to you, you can buy the cheapest optical drive, and in the future replace it, but make sure the "looks" of the optical drive fit the laptop.

What I mean is that some laptops have a special optical drive plastic cover so, when you replace it, it noticeable that it has been changed.

Usually, the cover plates are removable and pretty easy to swap (just a matter of prying against a couple tabs).

Not always though! Sometimes the tabs won't fit, or the eject button location will be different.

Happened to me for the M6.

Hi! I bought a Asus G50-x from BestBuy, I have a problem with the laptop! I can play with Team Fortress 2 just in 1024X768 (DirectX 9), and I can't set up higher resolution. Other games- Assassins Creed, Crysis- work in higher resolution. Could somebody help me?
