the regular 8700m is comparable to an overclocked 8600

but this 8700 has ddr3... so it's a bit faster at large resolutions

I believe the 8700M GT is comparable to the desktop 8600GT no?

The price seems a bit high though

I think waiting 3-4 months for the 9600M GT would a be a good choice then

Impressive videos. Nice work as usual Ken! I can't wait to see penryn in action with a good rts and see how much it helps. THough I'm sure its creating a lot less heat.

Yeah and wish Asus gonna make it for C90S too, I think it wouldn't be too difficult for Asus just to make a new GPU for it. :)

Thanks, Crysis video uploaded and it's looking pretty good with the graphic settings, yes the laptop does run cool and quiet.

Good to know this laptop runs cool and quite. I'm also looking at the Sager 5793 which is on the loud side. How's the screen, any light leakage???

    hey jesusrv,

Try just increasing your shadders and not the core and keep the memory where its at. This should give you a boost.

    ive gotten 5500+

let me re run it... my highest temp was 90 celcius... i think i can push it a little higher... we will see in a moment my last run is attached.

Ill tell you right now i dont think ill be ugrading my c90s to a 8700m gt because i pretty much got one... maybe even better. But i had to mess for a while to figure out how the 8600m gt works.

From what i hear the 9600 gt desktop scores in the high 9000+. So i hope asus lets us have one for the c90.

6000 is kinda crazy... I bet if i tinkered with the voltages on the video card i could get there. Technicaly it is the same card except the 8700 has a higher texture fill in rate.

Question regarding the initial subject. How does it affect the image quality to play games at lower resolution on a native 1920x1200 laptop? Does it look really bad?

I've been considering the G2SG-A1 for a while, but now I'm hesitating because I'm worried that playing games at its native resolution (1920x1200) will probably be too much for the 8700M GT. What do you guys think?

Opinions vary. I always play games at lower-than-native but I'm into older games (newest being Hitman 4...) I don't find it looks bad, but I'm not too sensitive.

Other people say that it looks bad though... Maybe it's a good idea to try such a thing first (on another computer) before buying.

Yeah, but laptop screens tend to be small... if you run in windowed mode you're further decreasing the viewing area.

Gar, barely got 4755 with using NVid to overclock, low temp though-83C highest on my G2S, wish Asus was like Sager and allowed hardware upgrades other than the cpu.
