Hello
Im very interessted for the differences from gx(2080 max q) and gw(2070 laptop) in system performance. So i know that cpu is on stress test throtteling, its the same cpu in both (gx and gw) so i think it would be the same thermal problem.
But how is it about the 2080 max q and 2070 laptop? Max q is a 90 watt version, the 2070 laptop approx 150w right? The max q has approx 10% more power Performance. When i see the differences about watts, i ask me, overheat the 2070 laptop not more faster? Normaly more power(watts) = more thermal heating?
Sorry for my beginner english...it isnt my favorite language -
Hey yall have a new 2019 ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701GW with a RTX 2070 Non Max-Q and 9th gen Intel 9750h and was wondering if anyone new the best undervolt settings want to see if I can boost performance and reduce heat a little bit. Also I've upgraded the RAM to 32gb and the NVME to a 2tb but that shouldn't affect my ability to undervolt right? New to undervolting GPU and CPU. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it's 90W vs 115W. They are close, they will likely perform equally to the human eye. The 2080 Max-Q might overclock well and counter the higher clock speeds of the 2070, or it might not.
If the cases are identical the Max-Q might fair better if there is thermal issues. If it's a properly designed chassis, the 2070 should be fine and overclocked will be hard to beat. -
I had the exact same thought when looking for a laptop before EOFY.
The 2070 Max-P was $1500 (AUS) cheaper than the 2080 Max-Q, so was pretty interested in it. But didn't want to end up with a hotter/louder AND less powerful machine.
There's very little info out there on the 2070 unfortunately. -
It will really come down to chassis design, heatsink and fan design. The 'Max-P' 2070 in this PB70EF-G stays reasonably cool while still overclocking and remaining stable. However, this is a thicker laptop with a large copper heatsink with dedicated heatpipes for the GPU. In a smaller chassis, with a smaller heatsink; I can see the Max-Q being the better choice.

Hi guys
Now i've a GX701GW with RTX 2070. The RTX chip does his jop very good. Thermal problems (overheating, throtteling) are a small problem. Only games with high CPU and GPU load reduces the power of the system (throtteling). I've untervolt CPU -0.050V, then it would be better. (Full) CPU Load make a lot of heat! CPU and GPU heatpips are connected together. If CPU have heavy load, the GPU will reduce speed. Finally, the 701GW ist hot (90 degres), but he have much power! Most games are in powerlimit not in heat throtteling. With untervolt cpu, this system works fine on high performance.
If any is interessted for tests results or anything...please let me know it.
