Thx for the good answears :) I have ordered the comp today. Strangely enough asus in denmark could not answear any question about this computer. He even sais that it could not be bought anywhere. But I can see the computer is on the way :) the danish asus is apparently not that clever :D

Maybe one of you know if you got a mouse/bag and 3D glasses with the laptop?

I got an ASUS Republic of Gamers mouse and backpack with the computer. The backpack is perfect for my use!

The 3D model always comes with shutter glasses. Though I think in some countries it doesn't ship with backpack and mouse.

I think only the A1 model ships with backpack and mouse and A1 is sold only through the US (maybe Canada - don't throw sticks), but Icould be wrong. Before deciding on this SW model I was looking for the JW model and nowhere I looked (on european online stores) did it come with backpack and mouse.

For previous questions: as said, there is no oem dvd, but comes with a ~22gb recovery partition (that I yet have to find out how to access and restore if the case may be).

The hdds were already partitioned : 116GB for OS, 325 gb for data(off the same drive with OS) and the second hdd came split in 2 different partitions (~ 230gb each). what puzzled me at first was that the 325gb DATA partition was marked as ready for compression (all files and folders had blue names), dunno why they configured it like that, but I unmarked it and it seems a tad faster rather that with compression active.

    Gonna run a 3dm11 today when I get home, but that's a long way (roughly 8h left) :) .
Did not monitor temps or such (aida64 reports an unknown mobo and reading might be innacurate).

I read G73SW review on Polish website (pclab.pl) and machine delivered to the test have matte/nonreflective display. Anyone can confirm that ? Matte/nonreflective display will be very useful.

Mine is glare/glossy but I find it high usable. Nothing to object to it so far.

LE1: the only software I kept installed are the atk package, p4g hybrid and wireless console. all the other i uninstalled as I found them highly useless.

LE2: while reading through this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/380681-asus-utility-bloatware-guide.html I noticed that the AsusWebstorage utility is found only on EEEpc. I'd like to mention that it's available preinstalled on the SW model (mine had it at least) and it offers 1GB of online space - from what I noticed. I uninstalled it :)

Could it be the 3D version with LG panel?

Edit: I think it is: http://pclab.pl/art44242-6.html

I've been working on the laptop since 2h ago and Im at 33% with another 30 mins to go - wireless on, keyboard on, screen brightness @ 50%.
i just noticed and maybe others weren't aware that the laptop comes with HDMI 1.4 and WiDi support (should you install an intel wifi card).

Too bad Asus doesn't use Intel Wi-Fi cards. Are you sure WiDi will work if I replace the Atheros card with an Intel one?

According to intel's website on widi if you have one of the listed cpus and wifi it should work; provided you have the TV to use widi.
    http://www.intel.com/consumer/products/technology/wirelessdisplay.htm#fragment-a-2

Most shops that sell the g73sw have the option of customizing it with an intel 6300 so it's no biggie there. I have my 6300 lying around somewhere but not gonna install it yet. Wanna see how this atheros card holds up.

Gonna try the latest drivers and run a 3dmark to see temps.

    Thanks for the information.
Unfortunately in my region shops don't offer customisation but I think those cards are very cheap to replace.

    Edit: The 2630QM isn't listed. :(

There is a small issue with these latest nv drivers. The screen keeps flashing once every 30-40 seconds. Can't pinpoint out exactly the pattern but it's ther and its annoying. Gonna keep an eye on it.

This thing we are doing is very odd. It's like we are having a private conversation that is not so private - at least until there will be more 73sw owners.
Anyway, if it won't go away - gonna try a clean install "by the book" - i'm gonna revert to 261.14 that the laptop is shipped with.

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

Choose first Notebook, than Drivers (NOT G73) and than VGA/Audio/WLAN and so on. ASUS never updates the specific Notebook section (except the BIOS), they only upload the drivers on their ftp and put them in the device category.

Hey ageha, did your G73SW 3D come with a Blu-Ray Player or Blu-Ray Burner? The previous 3D model had a burner, but the only sites I can find on the SW make it sound like its a Blu-Ray player only.

Mine has just a player. I had no time to wait for another SKU with burner and the SKU I got was the only one available.
In my region Asus sells different versions of the G73JW, they sell it with burner but with reader as well.

Just because the stock driver is fairly old and comes with CUDA 3.1.1. If you don't need a newer CUDA version you might not need a newer driver.

I had no time to turn on my G73SW yet, will play with it later. Btw I have the same model you have.
