Sorry but I did not understand....

Do you mean that they will not stop production?

    What about the Sale?

    And what is outlet item.

Sorry but I don't live in the US and this is the first time buying from BB.

When Best Buy has an item they sell with limited stock or they have an item that they sold but is moving to another model sometimes they have limited stock left. So Best Buy calls these Outlet items. Example Best Buy is now selling the X-5 making the X-1 the older model so now they will sell the remaining X-1's at a discounted price and wont be getting anymore in stock.
Hope this makes sense I typed this when I was super tired.

    ^^ yep..

wen a newer model of the same series is launched the stock of the older one is cleared off at lower rates and marked outlet item(and mostly not available to buy online!? not sure of this bit mayb sum1 will confirm).

neways so after model is put on outlet item technically it wont b a long time b4 they stop selling the model(when the stock runs out)

    thanks for all your inputs.

    Yes now I understood :D

I have been looking in ebay and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130289879280&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

I asked the seller and he told me that it is the same as the bestbuy version. It has 1year Asus warranty. And he also told me that the warranty is global.

Now this this the most important thing to me. I am living in the middleeast(outside US). So the global warranty will be a big plus.

I want to know from you guys as how far this can be true?
And from where this seller got the x1?bestbuy or direct from Asus?

Also this item is $50 cheaper than bb if you consider the tax.

This ends after 26 days :). I can buy it and pay to him after a week or so.

afaik x1 was exclusive to bb with its own warranty.. global warranty was not applicable on x1..

so you think what the seller told me is not true?

The first point in the "product features" there is something written about the item and bb.

neways it really shouldn't matter much if its a 1 yr warranty... its a pretty well built notebook so as long as u dont handle it rough u shud b fine.. only thing that can be a problem is a nb that has some sort of manufacturing defect..

I have read more than 90% of the posts in this thread :) . Till yesterday I knew that bb do not offer global warranty.

I asked all the 3 sellers of the x1 at ebay and they all told me that the item includes Asus global warranty. One of them mentioned that the warranty is 2years and the other 2 told that it is 1year.

Anyway thanks for your help :D

    waiting to listen from others.......

This has been discussed time and time again if you bought the X-1 from Best Buy you only have a 1 YEAR Best Buy warranty. Think about it, Its eBay the seller is going to say what he/she has to say to sell the product. Once sold its out of there hands. The seller probley doesnt even have good tech knowledge if they did they would already know this.

It really depends on the ebay seller, but yes, i do agree that most ebay sellers would tend to avoid all questions after the laptop has been shipped out (especially when positive feedback has already been left). On a side note, maybe I should start doing that too.... i'm currently still offering technical help to my ebay buyers whom have purchased laptops from me in the past :p

    Hello everyone !!

Finally got my "beast" of a machine - the cool new G50VT - X1 from my sister who bought it all the way down from US to India for me :)

Absolutely loving it so far of whatever I've seen. The looks are flashy, but blue is my favorite color so that nails my opinion anyways. And talking about the configuration : cost ratio any further praise on this forum will be like using torch on the sun !! :D

Yesterday I re-installed Vista from Scratch and also installed Windows XP with dual booting (because some of the old games won't run on the 64 bit Vista  )

However, now every time I have to switch between Vista and XP I need to change one Bios Setting for the SATA configuration (enhanced for Vista, compatible for XP) or else the respective OS reboots with a BSOD. I guess that's because I didn't slip stream my XP CD with the SATA drivers.

    1) Can anyone please let me know how I can install SATA Drivers on my installed XP partition ? I have downloaded the drivers, but don't know the process to install them.

    2) Also it would be really great if someone let me know from where I can get the latest drivers for components in G50VT-X1 for windows XP. I've checked this link but I'm not sure if these are for G50VT as well, since the title says G50V.

    Thanks,

    Suyash

    Hi guys,

I'm sorry about that question but how do you make a clean install with the recovery disk ?

It asks me to choose from Recovery for the entire HD, with 1 partition or 2...

    What does that mean ?

    Thx

The case of mine popped loose in the middle of the right side... No idea how it happened either. Looks like the whole thing moved too (motherboard etc.) I'm kinda scared when it comes to fixing that kind of stuff xD

ok i have had mine for about a month and the only thing i see as an issue is lack of ddr3 system memory. but that is a future problem right now id dont matter. and about drivers stop asking and learn to use laptopvideo2go. and everyone who complains about the model versions is retarded. the only real differences are cpu and display res. and yes i over clock the gpu. stable at 590-815-490 getting same scores as a gts. fear 2 runs great avg about 45 max trilinear filtering 2x aa turn it down i get about 60-75 normal. 9902 3d mark score. yes it is still the x1 :)

    Do you use a cooler?
Does the laptop gets really hot during intensive gamplay?

Just got my G50Vt-x1 from best buy open box. I managed to talk the manager down to 800$ for it. was funny cuz there was an older gentleman in his late 50's that was looking at the same laptop too. so i had to make a move on it.

it is in great condition. ran disk tests and checks. everything works wonderfully. i like the screen while some people say they don't, it is really not bad. the asus software that comes with it is not crapware at all. really helpful useful stuff like the webcam/video software and the power gear battery options stuff. mine even came with an extra battery!

only thing i would like to do is to find a way to turn off the touchpad led light that surrounds the touchpad and still be able to use it.

im downloading cs source on steam right now to see how it will run, and the wireless outperforms my gf's macbook's as per speed.

i have 14 days to return this, but i don't think i will. given the deal i got.

oh yeah the person asking about the restore process, i restored mine using option 3, which creates two partitions one for the OS, and one for your data, best way to do it. and it will also save the recovery partition for future use.

i ran an asus a7n8x-deluxe motherboard for years, and they build quality products.

hope to be on here for a long time, and great forum.

I broke a 3 keys of the keyboard when my book hit it. I called Asus, and initially they offered to ship me a new keyboard replacement. After hearing that I purchased from Best Buy, they asked me to send me the laptop for them to replace it.
I didn't know there would be a difference on service when purchasing from Best Buy.

sometimes ill use a cooler but it is not needed. the cooling is excellent. so no it really dont get that hot. the card is the old gts which nvidia down clocked. due to the new gts and gave it a new name. thats it so flashing to gts speed is easy and adds no and I MEAN EXTRA NO heat. the hottest ive seen it get is 88C gpu and about 83cpu.

Thats that ASUS steped up to the plate despite knowing you purchased from Best Buy. They must know the guys there are es.
But yes there is a difference for us who purchased the X-1 @ a Best Buy and that is were screwed on the ASUS warranty and stuck with some ty Best Buy warranty. Pretty much a way for Best Buy to sell there service contracts and milk you for more money. (if spellings off I typed this when I was tired as usual)

Hope this is a good place to ask. I bought an X6 off of Newegg for my mom.

I've been tweaking it all day and installing programs. Getting it to work.

Last thing I did was replace the three files in System32 to install custom themes. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...-vista-to-enable-custom-themes-visual-styles/

Being the idiot I am, I didn't use the 64-bit versions of the replacements, and rebooted. And now, every time I start up the computer, Explorer and DWM won't open. *facepalm I've tried booting from the ASUS disk, but, as expected, I get prompted to wipe my hard drive since the disk runs Windows Setup.

    WHAT. DO. I. DO?

No emoticon can express my frustration; I just threw away a whole day of my life here.

I thought of that, but that would be difficult. I'd really just like a way to fix the computer; it's THREE FRIGGIN FILES that are screwing me up.

Anyone think if I grab Ubuntu I can fix it from in there? That's a very nice-sounding solution.

EDIT: Don't worry about me. I ran booted Ubuntu Live from a disc and copied the 64-bit versions of the dll's in. I've booted; I'm happy.

No, the X5 is less powerful than the X1 anyway. I think they were intending to do this with it from the beginning.

The only X1 price drops will probably be local stores trying to get rid of any leftover inventory. The X1 is dead.

Well if you can log in and enter task manager, use the run command and type in "sfc /scannow" with your windows disk in the drive.

It'll scan for any corrupt windows files and replace it with the ones from your disk

Edit: lol, just realized the OP already fixed it

Agreed, I think the color scheme flows a bit better with the black/blue/silver versus the black/yellow/white/blue of the X5. I'm jealous of its battery, though.

@CA36GTP: What are you using to OC your P8400? Those are some awesome benchmarks you have there. How are your temps at around room temperature/do you use a cooler?

I'm using setFSB for the CPU overclock. Idle temps for my current setup is 44-45C for the CPU and 51-53C for the GPU, a tiny bit lower on warm days when I have a window open and a ceiling fan circulating air. The CPU temp is a little high, but I have some background stuff running that keeps it at around 4-6% usage, so it's never truly idle. I also want to redo my thermal compound as I don't think it set well. You can tell that the overclock has an effect because my fan doesn't go below 3200rpm anymore, whereas on stock settings it used to occassionally go passive.

Load temps vary depending on the task, but CPU-intensive tasks (PS2 emulation, mostly) generate about 60-61C on the CPU, and GPU-intensive tasks generally reach about 86C on the GPU. If I use synthetic stress programs, the GPU reaches around 92C. I don't use any external cooler.
