Ok! so I updated my vBios to the newer version of stock vBios tonight.

Now power lights come on but screen stays blank, and notebook does not boot up any more. Am I fooked or is there another option to fix this problem except for taking it back to the supplier for repairs ?

Did Asus release a vBIOS then?

I think you confused the vBIOS with the motherboard BIOS.

You can try to remove the battery and power adapter and then press and hold the tiny reset button on the bottom of the G73 for 5-10 seconds.

Would you mind linking to whatever vBIOS you used to flash with?

    Curious...

So the trolls on this forum - just post bogus problems and disappear? I don't know whether he/she was a troll.. Just the other forums I've been on, the trolls ussually are a bit more complaintive and often refer to throwing away the product and buying some other product. -

I waited almost 24 hours to gain POST access to the forums, I find it a little curious that a TROLL would be so determined..

Here is the file I used, looks like I will be getting a new notebook tomorrow if nobody can help. A lot of PT and about a 200km drive to get it sorted, so hope the GSOD will be sorted out on the new one. But if you guys can save me all the drama it would also be appreciated.

Well, that filesize is certainly the size for a vBIOS. If you flashed to this file, and it won't boot, this would mean you bricked your videocard, and will need to RMA. Sorry. I assume you used ATIFlash to do the job?

What you linked there is the newer Clevo vBios. You cant use this one, only the older Clevo/MSI ones work for the G73JH. The newer Clevo/MSI vBioses brick these laptops as has been reported before.
You should really do more research before flashing a bios or vbios...

Actually I just flashed MSI GX740's latest vbios from here and my laptop is doing fine: http://download2.msi.com/files/downloads/frm_exe/1727_023.zip

Its a newer version(4th june) than the one posted in GSOD resources thread(it is dated 8th march). And it fixed my problem of crashing in Mafia 2 benchmark.

There has to be something wrong with this Clevo vbios. A quick look in RBE shows that nothing in the RAM is selected(the size), though i don't think it is the problem. The file size matches as well but if it got bricked then something ain't right.

I haven't used either of them. Any way to check without connecting to another tv/lcd? :p

    Wow,
    That's really unfortunate -

Can you really RMA/Return a product if you've followed someone elses advice and tried to load a BIOS/vBIOS from a different manufacturer?

Guess maybe it would be one of those accidental situations and it might be a little difficult for them to find out what exactly caused the problem..

My recommendation would be to NOT mention the failed installation of the vBIOS from a non-ASUS manufacturer. That alone could be cause for ASUS to void the warranty..

I know for my company, if the user mentioned they did such to the computers/notebooks we sell it would be a void to the warranty..

Just a thought and opinion -

I don't think so, plugging it in is the best sure way to know if it works. Don't you have a tv or an lcd at home?
