I'm a newbie to the forum, but not computers.

I have an G73JH purchased from Best Buy around 13 months ago.

I am not a gamer. I *am* a photographer, and I use Adobe products quite a bit, which was the reason for purchasing such a monster of a laptop.

It's relatively stock - not bone stock. I've swapped out the 3x2 GB dimms for 4x4 GB dimms to bring it up to 16 GB total, and made the OEM 650GB drive a slave and put in a Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid drive for my OS. That cut the boot time in half. I am also running W7 Ultimate x64.

When I swapped out the DIMMS, I removed the foil from the touchpad - and ever since then, the machine has been an absolute dream. It's everything I ever wanted, except for light :)

I've noticed the right fan running a bit loud as of late, and it's exhausting a LOT of hot air compared to the left. It wasn't like this when it was new.

The dignostic software I'm running doesn't indicate anything about GPU temp, but the CPU cores are running between 53 and 60 degrees Celsius while I'm doing very minimal tasks.

I've got a couple loose keys on the keyboard, and the paint has worn off a couple keys.

I'm going to get a new keyboard and swap it in, and while it's out, I'd like to do the repaste and blow out the heatsinks etc.

What else should I do while it is apart?

What processor upgrades will the G73JH support? Right now, I have the Q740 @ 1.73GHz. It does OK, but if there's an upgrade path worth looking at, I'd like to make the changes simultaneously.

I have the latest BIOS, VBIOS, drivers etc.

Thanks for any advice you may offer!

The best CPUs you can get are the i7-920xm/940xm, take a look at the sticky at the top of the asus gaming section for threads on how to do the swap.

It sounds like it's time to remove the dust from your vents, no repaste necessary unless you really feel like it.

You should be able to find a replacement keyboard on ebay or the asus estore.
