Just ordered this for the wife, just two real simple questions

    1) It comes with 6 gig which seems a odd amount, If I was to add another 2gig, where is the empty socket is it on the bottom or will I have to do the full dissemble for the one under the keyboard?

    2) Does it come with the second hard drive caddy?

Thanks for taking the time, just trying to find the answers so I can order the parts I need.

No mocking here fella or you get the bad red squares instead of the green ones like I have done in the past :D

However seeing as you have the BBK7 you can advise on the OP on his questions ;)

mmmmm, well that i know of only the ending of "bbk7" will be the g74sx the " best buy" model. the g73 is just a "jh". so the older model ( g73jh ). or the newer replacment of it will be the ( g74sx bbk7 ). "BB"=best buy. the g74sx bbk7 " best buy model " will have >>> Intel Core i7-2630QM GeForce GTX 560M (2 GB ) graphics ((( gimped ))). 2-500 GB harddrives at 7200 rpm , 17.3-inch screen, 16:9, 1600x900 ) (720p). ). memory 8 gb ddr3 . 64bit windows 7. BEST BUY does not sell the g73jh anymore, the new model " replacement" is the Model: G74SX-BBK7 | SKU: 2712579 price:$ 1,199.99

Im pretty sure the OP is referring to the RBBX05 which is what I have because it came with 6GB RAM and if you say the BBK7 doesn't im pretty sure its a JH.

Will have to wait and see if he returns however :)

ummm he asked a question about the RAM and the HDD slot he did not mention any problems with it. I find it funny how people think the JH has problems just from word of mouth and its also quite funny that our problematic JH model beats all others models released 18 months later ;)

The problems with the JH can be fixed and they are very much worth fixing as you found out with your BBK7 not performing as it should.

its not "word of mouth", the g73jh had problems. go talk to most of the "best buys" in the u.s, and tecs from ASUS. most of them had hardware and software problems. even mine had them, mine went threw 4- hard drives, and the keybord and mouse bad keeped screwing up. the "best buy" here is the knoxville,tn store call them and ask them about what they know. i like my g73jh that i had but i just could not take it anymore. best buy says after the 4 times they try to fix they have to replace it, so they did, with the "replacment" model g74sx bbk7. i do not know about the g73jh "hhd" slot but i do know the g74sx got 2-slots and each 500gb. so a total of 1-tb. and ram if i am correct for the g73jh had 6gb, while the "gimped" g74sx has 8gb. my BBK7 is performing great never had any problems yet with it out of the box, the only thing i have said was the sound is not that great out of it and the "g73jh had a better sounding laptop.

Clearly that was related to your model. Mine has had three owners, been through 3 warranty's, been dissassembled and repasted 13 times, had the CPU removed and changed 3 times, had the GPU removed twice, had the HDD and RAM removed and replaced numerous times. Been benchmarked and overclocked and punched to its limits consistently for the last 6 months. Been dropped, been shorted, the list goes on and on and the only problem that I have had that wasn't fixed was most recently when the stock HDD that is 18 months old began to pack up.

You cannot say that the JH model is bad just because you had problems opinions are not fact.

Yes if it is the RBBX05 it comes with 6gb of 1333mhz and can be increased by either adding 2gb more into the 4th slot or replacing it all to increase it to 16gb and it has 2 HDD bays. I dont think the OP is going to return to find out though....
