I think the actual jack in my G60Jx is broken, I can only hope there is a fix.

Basically if I plug my headphones in all the way, it comes out only on the right ear, but if I plug it in about half way in comes in both but either in mono or worse quality (not really sure which).

If I put the headphones in all the way and bend the actual headphone jack towards me it fixes but otherwise stays in the right ear.

    Is there a solution?

You can solder in a replacement port, or do your best to bend the contact points in proper place.

if you are out of warranty you can sometimes find the audio board on ebay or at parts stores. I'm pretty sure it's the same board for the G51 and G60.

I really have to replace the whole part?

Would it be wise to try and bend one of the metal springs back?

It's a small board, it usually goes for ~$50 or less on eBay. You can try bending the jack but it's hard to get to it, you'll need something small like a needle or (worse) a paperclip. Before you do that, make sure your headphones aren't the problem, try them with something else and try different headphones or speakers with your audio jack.

Yeah it's not the headphones, I know that.

Do you have a picture of the actual assembly just for reference if I decide to try and bend it back?

There isn't really a pic that can capture it because it's the inside of the jack you're talking about...

I remember seeing a picture on this board of the actual jack assembly inside the laptop for reference.

I just asked for it because if I were to poke around inside with a toothpick or something I have no clue what to poke at...

My old headphone pair's jack was slightly bent, and at the time I thought nothing of it, but I'm figuring I may have moved the connector too far out of the assembly. I'm guessing I need to move it back but I'm not sure how...

My son broke his. I picked up a small USB DAC, Turtle Beach, at BB but they can be had in several flavors on the net. The TB was $30, sounds great and a lot less hassle than fixing it depending on how you get it fixed.

Is this what you are talking about?: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/sound-cards/audio-advantage-micro-ii.aspx

Is there any major loss in audio quality?

120 bucks... no thanks, I'm not that picky.

I went ahead and bought it, got it shipped in 1 day for like 2 extra dollars on Amazon, and it's great. The volume is ridiculously loud (I basically have to set it all to 1) but quality is great and everything.

    Thanks a bunch man
