    If Leopard uses zfs is that going to be a problem when upgrading? Can one change file structure 'on the fly'...ie: simply 're-format' the HD when upgrading?

    Leopard is most likely not going to use ZFS. It will support ZFS, but it will not use it. If they do decide to use it, which is very unlikely, Apple would most likely provide a convertion application, just like Windows does for FAT to NTFS, so no data will be lost.
