is the vista OS used with bootcamp on a mac the real deal? As in, is it the full featured vista?

Ive heard somewhere that Mac OS startup system or w/e its called differs from Windows OS (BIOS). So im wondering if running vista on macs is literally the same as a native windows laptop like sony or w/e?

Yes, Mac OS X startup uses EFI and not BIOS. But with Boot Camp you run Windows like a native PC laptop. No differences. All the resources are being used by only one OS (while the other one is "inactive").

Right now Boot Camp is still in Beta, so driver support isn't perfect yet. With that said, gaming will work fine, normal Windows activities work fine; the drivers are mostly for little things such as no support for two-finger tapping yet, etc. Boot Camp will be finalized in October with Leopard.

awesome. Btw, ive read around for a while, and ive kept reading about requiring both Windows XP AND Vista to install... is that true or did the new bootcamp version change it?

As far as i know, apple's website states that only 1 is required, but i hear the opposite also

Nopes, just one copy of Windows. That can be Windows XP (must be SP2), or Windows Vista.

It's pretty much the same Vista. There are some issues touch as track pad clicking, but that's not so much Vista's fault, but Boot Camp still being in BETA.

I never used Vista on my Mac, but I've heard that the MacBook runs Aero without a glitch.

Runs Aero smooth as SILK. I have been running Vista Home Premium on my MBP 17" since the day I got it.

Well, I don't doubt that at all :p, considering the MacBook Pro has the GeForce 8600 GT. But the MacBook only has a GMA950. So yeah, I've heard that even the GMA950 on the MacBook runs Aero fine.

I would hope that a MBP could.

Is anyone using it on a Macbook?

I'm running XP via Parallels and Vista via Bootcamp. In my experience, Vista has been even smoother than XP - fast and reliable - not a single crash to date.
