I believe so. The nvidia chip is supposed to be much faster than the crappy intel ones.

    But I don't have a definant answer.

I'd be willing to try it out for you if I do indeed get a Macbook today.

Civ 4 should run just fine. You probably will not be able to max all settings, but the game will run on medium at an acceptable resolution.

Civilization 4 is not a terribly demanding game, it'll run fine on the new MBPs!

I'm downloading the demo now. I'll let you know how it works.

On another note, I got this game for PC, but really haven't played it in quite a while. To be honest, I liked Civ Revolution a little better, though Civ IV is much more robust.

It should be able to, as the 9400M is a lot more than Intel IGPs.

I downloaded the Mac demo and tried it. It ran quite smoothly at 1280x800 with graphics set to high. I was really impressed, as it was the same quality as on my M90.

It should be noted that there was a little bit of slowdown as the camera would pan around the map, and it did cause the laptop to get pretty warm. Turning off some effects might be helpful, especially as the game progresses and you get more objects/units on screen. But strictly speaking, the game runs pretty much perfectly at native res and max settings.
