Dont know if it's just me but i just recently installed Windows XP on my new macbook via BootCamp and everything seems working bad...

USB pendrive keeps disconnecting when i try to copy something from it, Windows suddenly freezes, Daemon tools fails to mount a virtual unit... :S

I installed all drivers from Mac OS CD, is there something i am missing or shall i just use virtual machines and forget Bootcamp?

bootcamp is an emulator, right? and emulators always need overhead and eat performance... just partition your HDD and dual-boot.

Boot Camp is not an emulator. It is, in fact, the very dual-boot option that you suggest.

Without more details about your particular installation, it's hard to say what the issue is. Offhand, I'd suggest you download and install the updated Boot Camp 2.1 with drivers. Most of the drivers have since had updates as well - you can individually update those as necessary.

No, boot camp just manages dual-booting. You get the real Windows OS running on the real computer, no virtualization or emulation.

If you installed all of the drivers from the Mac CD you should be good to go. It's just a PC laptop running Windows. You'd have to go through the normal Windows troubleshooting steps. What does event manager say, any errors happening?

Apple drivers SUCK. On my MBP the touchpad driver is crap. The WiFi driver is crap. Who knows what else is crap. Good thing I use my desktop for Windows 99% of the time.

I have to disagree, I have heard of Touchpad driver problems in Windows, but other than that, from what I have seen and used, there aren't really any major issues.

Lol I would say that not having tap to click is a slight issue. Not to mention very sensitive scroll among other things.

The WiFi will DC every so often. It is a known issue with the A band and prevents the MBP from sleeping as well. Great drivers of course.

This is besides all the heat issues.

If Apple put 1% of the effort they put into getting OSX to run right the drivers for Windows won't be that bad. I use Windows on my MBP once in a blue moon so I dont really care. I probably would have used it more if everything worked like it should. Doubt Apple will like that...

Looks like Daemon tools virtual drives are working now. I'm going to try to look for drivers related to usb and fix the pendrive thing. As for freezes, let's first see if it was something casual or it happens more often.

I just want Windows because i need .NET Studio/SQL Server environment for work, and debugging big projects on a virtual machines is a pain :S But if Windows keep working this bad i may end up trying alternatives.

So i add this question, which app works better for virtualization under Mac OS? VMWare, Parallels or VirtualPC?

Apple did it on purpose they went out of their way to make sure you blame windows for every thing that goes wrong with vista. It is the way of a small company trying to destroy Microsoft's reputation.

Do not install Apple drivers just make sure you download the drivers Automactically Via Windows Vista Updates after you install Vista.

Apple went out of their way to make sure the mouse does not function with Vista in the next generation MacBook Pro.

Vista Ultimate + Sp1 or Sp2 is the most comprehensive software you need the only thing is Microsoft has also gone out of their way to make it harder for XP users to move around in Vista.

Funny thing though Apple has better hardware but with less features such as no Blu RAY and for the supposedly "Multimedia Computer of Apple" they don't even support 1920x1200 resolution on any of their supposedly superior multimedia computers.

Once Apple Inc fires the idiot that market Apple Mac withou Blue Ray or Screen Resolution that doesn't even support 1920x1200 resolution, Apple will lead the world by force. And by right Apple belong on top only if they fire or sacked the idiot that markets its products without those 2 items.

Then Again if Microsoft fires the idiot that designed Vista to make it harder for their own XP customers and or distant themselves from Taiwanese or Korean Cheap Computer Hardware Casings Microsoft Will Lead the World as it should have been with honour.

In business never associate with cheap people - this unfornately was not applied to when Microsoft went taiwan or Korea. Hence today, all pc computers are ugly and their hardware casings are all ugly and plasticky.

It is true Asian eyes cannot see beauty, look at asian fashions in Japan, look at asian cars, all asian cars are ugly and all asian computer cases are ugly. Microsoft should contact Italian people to design their computer cases - we would then have the real Ferrari and Lamborghinni of computers.

By the way I am Asian and I am ashamed that everything ugly comes from Asia.

Micrsoft should beg Apple to design computers for them. It would be nice to have Vista made for MacBook Pro unibody casing.

    ROFL

But it is kind of clever. Most Apple users and switchers would just say "Oh, effing Windows" when it is misbehaving. I no longer bother due to the less stable / compatible Windows under Boot Camp, I dig out a real machine. I've seen some BSOD's on my latest Sony's which is very disquieting, but otherwise from late 07 I'd only seen Vista BSOD's on BC'd Macs.

Which is more than enough that they made some kind of support for Windows in the first place.

Great move again, as that's how they won me over.

the answer is simple for this question...it's because apple hasn't released stable drivers for windows..

yeah that's the main reason why i bought the mac because it supports vista.

but apple went out of their way to make vista fry your mac if you use it too long. i am now too scared to even touch vista under my mac machine.

That is completely different. Vista is known for eating up a lot of resources even when idling, and Aero is just ridiculous when it comes to how much VRAM it eats up.

That being said, even the older-gen Macbooks (more so the Unibodies), and even iMacs are made so thin and that way the whole aluminum enclosure acts like a heatsink for the components inside.

I game happily in Vista x64 and the computer is hot (2.53 Unibody MBP), but the components inside are like 70-75 Degrees Celsius.

You can say it's all Apple not supporting Microsoft. But Microsoft does that same to Apple. Look at MSN messenger for Mac. it's complete crap. How hard would it be to make it like the one for windows?

    I had the same problem.

My problem stopped when i use Vista to download all the drivers for me.

Now i could game and idle without the idiotic Apple Nerds trying to fry my Macbook just because i like Vista.

I figured going into every Mac post he could and whining about Blu-Ray and 1920x1200 resolution was the main problem... that and wishing death on Jobs.

I don't know why people figure that if they whine 10 times about something as much as they can on an internet forum it'll somehow help or make them feel better. Don't they realize that after a while people get sick of it, make fun of them, and they end up feeling worse? It's a vicious circle... until you get banned :D
