It is quite slow. But other than that I actually like Office::Mac. The alternatives are: iWork, OpenOffice, and NeoOffice. The former is an apple product, while the latter two are open source, and therefore free.

Office:mac serves its purpose but it's annoying because it feels slow. I love iWork, and the new version (08) plays real nice with Office. You can download a trial from the Apple site if you wish. It isn't that expensive to buy, either.

Office for Mac 2004 is not that great because it runs slow. This has to do with the fact that Office for Mac 2004 was written for PowerPC Macs, and the current Intel Macs normally would not be able to run it. Apple wrote an emulator known as Rosetta, so PowerPC applications can run on Intel Macs.

The next version of Office, Office for Mac 2008, is scheduled for release in Q1 2008. It will be Universal Binary, so it will run on both PowerPC and Intel Macs without an emulator.

You can consider NeoOffice as a free alternative to Office. NeoOffice is a Mac port of OpenOffice. There is OpenOffice for Mac, but it runs under X11, which also consumes a lot of system resources, so NeoOffice will be lighter.

iWork is another great choice. Its more powerful than NeoOffice and is cheaper than Office for Mac.
