you want to switch over too mac ? ok

    1. You need to buy a Mac Laptop / System ( sorry , if already have one :D )
    2. You don't need to convert anything mate , just get MS Office 2008 for mac
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/Office2008/default.mspx
    3. I don't think so its much of a hassle you can get data transfer cables to transfer data over to mac

All the best in Mac World :D

MS Office on the Mac can handle files produced on a PC nowadays and I think that it is less of a hassle than it was 10 years ago. Anyway, from what I understand Macs were developed for people with the IQ equivalent of an eggplant anyway, so the learning curve shouldn't be too steep (tongue in cheek ;) ).

    Good luck with your decision

IMO Mac is great for a light computer user and a hardcore computer user. You seem to be in the light user category.

How on earth do you get bored with an operating system?! It just sits there and lets your apps run.

Well if you plan to get a mac, prepare to pay the OSX premium. Its not that much easier to use (you don't get that much easier than XP/Vista anyway) and Office 2007 for pcs are far superior to office 2008 for macs

I use computers with windows, linux and os x on a daily basis at work and home. I am new to the mac world (3-4 months) and just like you I wanted to try something new. The transition was relatively easy and macs are generally very stable, intuitive and quite speedy. I will close by saying that my new macbook is now my #1 computer. I use for my banking, most of my email, itunes, pictures, family movies, surfing the net and some work with vista in virtual mode using virtualbox without any problems and did I mention it looks gorgeous?

The switch is as easy as it is to migrate from one laptop to another, ie just need to copy across all your data, install the necessary programs and Bob's your uncle.
However, the only issue could be perhaps emails. I had a bit of trouble getting my emails from my outlook express account over to mail, but did manage thanks to a quick google search.
Apart from that I haven't had any issues switching.
For the one or two programs that are XP only I have parallels installed to take care of that.
So my advice is if you need a new laptop, Mac is a great choice.
    a

ps Mac's are not for stupid people, they are for people who don't want to spend hours/days/years configuring, tweaking, overclocking, modifying, hacking and playing with their system. If you just want to sit down and do some work, browse the internet, write some emails or documents, then mac is the best choice.
If your a gamer, hobbyist or extreme performance junkie then XP/vista/MS is for you.

The ironic thing is I bought a $2000 Macbook Pro.. and got bored with it. It's been sitting off to the side of my desk here for weeks and I hardly use it.

(this is the second Mac I've bought and got bored with)

Sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but Excel files on the Mac are suppose to be highly tedious.

OSX is just an OS that sits there. There is nothing really that "exciting." Mind you, I hate the dock with a passion. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money on a lot of stupid things when you buy Apple. Like a $70 proprietary video-out adapter.

I switched to a Mac a couple weeks go. I have to admit, I only went for it because of the new design. Using OSX has been a bit tricky, but so far so good. Of course with any new OS you will have to spend some time getting use to it.

If you're so bored, you may get bored of Macs too.

I actually think that Windows is more interesting to use because I constantly have to adjust and fix things while my Mac just does what it does best and hardly give me any problem.

Most of my gaming is on the PC while my Mac is for web dev and work, you pick and choose the best tool for the job.
