I wanna download the vista trial to play around with it but it keeps talking about virtualizing. Do I need to use vmware to virtualize it or can I install it in bootcamp and run it that way?

Bootcamp doesnt virtualize it, its a full windows install on your HDD.

The download is for a virtual machine image of Windows Vista, and not a setup package that Boot Camp could use. You won't be able to use Boot Camp with it unfortunately. You would have to use Microsoft Virtual PC 7.0 for Mac, which I do not think is free, or use one of the free ones available that are floating around on the web (Virtual Box is one that you can try).
