I installed Adium first, only to discover that it doesn't support video or voice calls. Then I downloaded aMSN. It says it doesn't support voice chats either. As for video, I can see the person I'm conntected with, but they can't see me. I know my macbook's webcam is working, cuz I see myself.

    What could be the reason?

tell your friends to use Skype, they should probably be happier with it anyway, it is too bad iChat isn't compatible with other accounts, like msn, or yahoo, that would be nice if they could update that.

But skype isn't compatible with msn either. I mean, it's totally different.
Yes it would be awesome if they could update iChat. It's probably not that hard. Steve and his mates are just too stiff on some issues. They deserve a slap sometimes.

MS doesn't update their OSX apps too often, they have a lot of other concerns before that, and I can't blame them.

i just meant, tell your friends that you want to talk to with video and voice to just use skype,

although I must admit it is very nice to be able to use MSN etc. and message chat with video, or just with voice, etc. especially if you have a significant other in a different country.

is ichat just compatible with AIM? which is freaking horrible by the way, so much ridiculous crap is installed along with it :(

it would be nice if something like iChat could support MSN, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, AOL, dare I say skype?, etc. Not sure what iChat is currenty compatible with though.

I've installed Mercury Messenger. Now I just have to wait until tomorrow 'till someone that I'm comfortably familiar with comes online.

In other news, I switched from Firefox (before that Safari) to Camino, and I'm a happy man (after a few tweaks). :)

I hope that is true!, that would be a great move on Apples part, these messenger programs are fairly important bits of software for most computer users, i would think a majority of people do use them, so this would ease even more people's minds when switching to mac.

not to mention iChat is a very good program.

Anyone who uses mercury messenger: I'm trying to change the format of the text that appears in my chat windows. So the default format is this:
(k i can't post the code because I'm guessing it's in HTML and it tries to read it and so doesn't print it on the page. Adding "//" to each line also doesn't help either. So I've attached the format code):

EDIT: CODE ATTACHED. It's in .txt format, couldn't attach in .rtf

    Which produces something like this:
    [time] My name says:
    Some example message

Now i want to separate the first line ([time] my name ...) from the second like (the actual message) by adding color to one line (for example, making the "[time] My name says:" appear in blue). How would I do that? What's the code?
