As of now, we don't know, but its likely Apple may implement something like this...Macs bought in September and October receive free or discounted copy of Leopard...

Yes, This is not a HUGE upgrade just a minor one. It will support a new theme like Aqua in Tiger.

You have a choice when installing Leopard; Erase and Install (so you basically reformat the Mac and then install Leopard), or "Upgrade" (don't remember the actual name). If you choose to Upgrade, then you will install Leopard without deleting or changing your files and applications.

for what it is worth, I called them and ask them if they would do a discount on leopard if I buy now. They said no but that they would discount the price of the machine by the cost of leopard. They said they could do this if I was a business only. I told them I was.

Yes, that would be very nice. I do advise everyone though; don't expect it, as if you expect it to happen, you will either only get satisfied that Apple actually does it, or you will be disappointed that Apple didn't. ;)

Bah I'm not really expecting anything, I'm pretty content with my system right now and I'm not even considering changing it for the new version so if they offer it great, if not well i don't really care.
Apple is still better customer service than Dell (&*$%?&%$&%*?!@#$¨È). lol

Yes, Apple's customer support is truly fantastic. Apple will go to such lengths to satisfy its customers :)D), and I think that's truly awesome.

That is why, often, even if customers have had bad experiences with their Apple product (cashmonee, our resident moderator, had to switch his MBP (if I remember correctly) 5 times before getting a good one), most of the time, they choose to stick with Apple because they know if they ever have a problem, Apple is willing to get it right.

Not to be negative on Apple, but as a counterpoint, before Vista was available, Microsoft instituted a system whereby people buying computers with XP could get a discount to upgrade to Vista (might have even been free for XP MCE and Pro to Premium and Business). Vista of course launched in January 2007, and I believe the program was announced in September 2006 for computers bought starting in October 2006. Putting the issue of whether people would want to "upgrade" from XP to Vista aside, Microsoft's program was announced and the terms settled far in advance of Vista's launch so that there was no guessing around. Although I'm pretty sure Apple will provide a discount for recent Tiger purchasers once Leopard launches, announcing such a program after the fact really isn't the best way to do it. Although it does build the hype, which is probably their justification.

Hey everyone! I think I'm gonna upgrade to Leopard around Christmas time. My bro's in college so he can get it for $70. My MacBook has an 80GB hard drive which is a good size but I keep lots of ripped family guy episodes from my season DVDs on here and some ripped movies too and those take up a lot of space. I'm thinking about buying a 160GB Hard drive and moving all the files onto that drive and using the 80GB as an external for TIme Machine. Can someone help me find an enclosure that's either white or silver that uses the USB port as a power source?

    Thanks
