I agree! AT&T's plan prices are extremely high here in the states... I'm waiting on the rumored Blackberry Thunder to show its face.

Will AT&T be offering a complete buy out of the phone?

Do you mean where AT&T will give the phone for free for signing up with them? Sadly, no. They sell the IPhone for $200 for the 8 GB model, $300 for the 16 GB model. Plus, the plans they have are expensive when compared to Blackberry plans.

I was just wondering if we could just buy the phone outright. Since I travel alot and would be willing to bet the Iphone will be unlocked within the first month of being released. Just like the last one lol. I wouldn't be surprised if current unlocks will still work.

Well, with iPhone 3G, when you purchase it you have to activate in store, so yeah...

I'm not getting the iPhone 3G...not that I don't want it :p, but I just got a new Sony Ericsson in January, because I knew even if iPhone came out for Canada, the Rogers plans would be way too expensive for a while.

If we only had 3G here. Maybe we'll have it by the end of summer. I guess my 2G iPhone will be okay until then.

In Sri Lanka we have 3.5G technology . Data transfer speed is superb except charges ( $10 for 1.5GB download). Today i talked to local apple distributor , they told me no iPhone for us until fall :(

So they are going to make you open that nice shrinkwrapped box and get fingerprints on that shiny new phone at the store in order to activate it?

Hell with 3G, I am getting a lightly used iPhone 1.0 planless for cheap. Spend a couple of hours unlocking it, and I'll be set.

Too bad there's no more iPhone dock included with the iPhone 3G package...it was a nice touch.

I am really undecided right now between buying an unlocked blackberry 8310/bold or iphone 3g.

the nice thing about the blackberry is that it now has a native live messenger client, and service books have already been updated by telefonica. with the iphone id have to use mobilechat for now, and i would need to leave the app open... everything else is great with the iphone though... damn.. dont know

I like the Blackberry Bold too. If it wasn't for iPhone 3G, I would for sure get it :D. Its definitely the best other than the iPhone 3G.

But if Rogers can't get it together (Blackberrys are a better price plan on Rogers), then I might consider using a Blackberry Bold. But anyhow, that is still a year away before I'll be changing phones, so who knows by then.
