I don't see it happening yet. There is an Apple Special Event happening tomorrow, and yes its about Macs, but all indications are pointing to new iMacs, possibly new Mac Minis, .Mac upgrades and iLife/iWork updates. Not about an ultraportable MacBook Pro.

My opinion is its a matter of when the ultraportable comes out, not if it will. But there's been no indication in the production line of a new order of laptops, and Apple has other things to update before introducing a new product. There's iPhone 2, iPhone Nano, iMacs (probably tomorrow), Mac Mini (maybe tomorrow), iLife/iWork (maybe tomorrow), Mac Pros, Leopard, new iPods before getting to the MBP and MacBook.

I'd say expect an ultraportable Mac between Macworld 2008 to WWDC 2008.

This month is about the iMacs, September will be about iPods, October is about Leopard and possibly minor MacBook updates. Macworld 2008 is probably iPhone 2, iPhone Nano, and I'd say WWDC 2008 could be the ultraportable MBP. My timeline prediction.

yep, probably not. But it would be nice though.

I personally would like to see apple make a "pro" version of their wireless keyboard. I got a chance to try out the mbp keyboard. I think it's better than my gf's thinkpad keyboard. JMO.

I highly doubt it. Only thing that I think is definite for tomorrow is the new iMacs.

Anything beyond that (Mac mini or MacBook updates, an ultraportable MacBook, etc.) is unlikely.

The only other stuff that might be shown would be stuff like the rumoured iWork 08.

And also, there are rumors about upgrades to the .Mac service (it has a scheduled service outage tomorrow that corresponds with the event).
