Hi, I've only had my macbook pro for about a week and 1/2 now. I just opened itunes on the macbook, signed in and processed my itunes gift card. However when I open the library, it doesn't show any of my songs (??).

Previously, I was using an HP laptop. Is it necessary to somehow transfer my library from Windows to Mac? And if so, how do I do it? Please help. Greg

Best bet would be using an external HDD to transfer everything. Or use a program to transfer. You could always try sharing your files on your network with yourself or transferring them via bluetooth from the HP to the Mac if your HP does have bluetooth capability.

If you still have the HP, do the following (make sure your HP and your new Mac are currently authorized on your iTunes account)

    1) Boot the HP
    2) Once into Windows, open iTunes
    3) Go to File -> Backup Library -> Choose to make a complete Backup
    4) Put in a black DVD and then confirm that it begins burning your backup files
    5) It will continue to burn the files, possibly asking for multiple DVDs depending on your library size (mine right now is about 3 full DVDs worth)
    6) Once complete, in the order the came out, put the discs into your Mac and iTunes should automatically recognize them as a backup and ask if you want to add it to your library. Tell it yes and to override existing files.
    7) Follow the prompts until your entire library is restored and then place the discs somewhere safe just in case you loose part of your library for whatever reason.

Apple and, subsequently, iTunes do not let you redownload purchases once completed on one of your authorized computers because of copyright reasons.

That too is a way to do it. Also I though about it this way you could take out your HP's HDD and get an external reader and hook it up through USB and transfer them. You have a few different ideas to work with here best of luck to you an hope what I've posted has been of some of assistance.
