    hello everyone..

i'm sick of "waiting" .. and i really want - not need, just want - a new laptop.

i don't think i'll be playing on it, just web surfing, word processing, chatting, watching movies and downloading them (torrents...etc) and thats about it.

i really think that the Macbook would suit me, but im not sure if the merom will be available soon in the macbook.

Leopard will be a 64bit OS. and i dont want to buy a laptop that wouldnt work eith leopard.

the thing is, merom might not be available soon for the macbook, and it might have less battery life.

so will waiting for merom mean sacrificing some of the battery life, lots of my time, with no real return?

if it was worth it, i'd stay with my 2 year old dell untill its available.

but if not, why waste my time?

    any ideas?

From all I've read, Merom is supposed to have better battery life.

Hi. My name is Bill, and I am a Macaholic.

Sometimes I want to pull the trigger on a new laptop also. The Macbook is driving me crazy because I want a decent GPU that it does not have. The 15inch Macbook Pro is too big for me but has the GPU. Then there's that Merom Spector hovering over everything, along with a taunting whining sound. Sometimes I just loose it and find myself trembling, in a cold sweat, hunched over my little Sony Vaio T250 in the darkness of my little room, on the Apple Store site with my finger hovering over the buy now button, sick with the New Macbook fever...but deep down I know it's just not the time, at least till I see the outcome of the WWDC next week. Hopefully there will be something useful there. I don't know how much longer I will be able to hold on after that; I guess I have to take it one day at a time...yes, that's it; one day at a time...

Leopard will still support 32-bit Intel chips, so you should be fine (heck, Apple's still planning on supporting PowerPC-based Macs for I think the next 4 or 5 years).

i think i'll make the 1st of september a deadline for getting the laptop. enough time to get a merom laptop.

if not, then the hell with merom, i'd settle for a pentium 2.
